I've known about this for a while, because of Stjepan Tomic (Hanging Pawns) who promoted it quite a lot for being a good environment in which to play quality chess.

I liked the idea, too, and wanted to somehow add a feature in LiChess Tools to integrate the site into Lichess somehow, but I didn't think too much about it and have not found yet a good solution that would make it useful for Lichessers and fair to the website. Perhaps a custom item in the Play section? I am open to suggestions...

Perhaps a feature to be able to send a challenge for your scheduled ladder game which would send it to your paired player with the correct time control and color would be handy.

I always follow the people I get paired with, but another possible feature might be to have the online friends list show people you have a ladder game scheduled against so effectively it would auto-follow people you are paired against.

Not sure if either of those are doable but they seem like things that would be welcome.

You must make a good faith effort to schedule the game when you are challenged within the negotiation timeframe, or you forfeit your position on the ladder. In other words, you can't protect your ladder position by avoiding challenges. However, you can go on vacation if you know you will not be able to play for a bit. But you need to do that before you are challenged.
