Lichess x Anichess Tournaments: Everything About the Project & Prize Withdrawals (Full FAQ)

Lichess x Anichess Tournaments: Everything About the Project & Prize Withdrawals (Full FAQ)

Hello, chess player! If you participated in our joint tournaments on Lichess and want to claim your hard-earned prize or simply learn more about the project, you are in the right place.

This guide is designed to explain the world of Anichess in plain English and take you through the step-by-step process of getting your rewards.

PART 1: BASIC QUESTIONS (WHAT IS THIS?)

1. What is Anichess? Is it legitimate?
Anichess is an official global project developed in partnership with Chess.com and supported by the legendary World Champion Magnus Carlsen. We are not changing classical chess; instead, we are adding an element of magic to make the game more dynamic and exciting.

2. Is this a scam? What are your guarantees and partners?
We completely understand your concerns, as there are many questionable projects on the internet. However, Anichess is a massive international product backed by leading figures in the global chess community.

  • Support from Champions: The project is officially endorsed by the world's top chess player, Magnus Carlsen.
  • Our Ambassadors and Partners: Elite world-class grandmasters—such as Anish Giri, David Howell, David Anton, Olexandr Bortnyk, Alexander Shimanov and many others—actively collaborate with us.
  • Who is behind this: One of the project's key partners is Chess.com, one of the largest chess platforms in the world, and the development is handled by Animoca Brands, a global leader in digital assets.

You can watch Magnus Carlsen play Anichess live, test spells, and share his thoughts on the project on the official YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmN8hbbby-Y

All prizes for Lichess tournaments are paid out from an official prize pool, and the CHECK token is officially traded on the market. We are here for the long haul!

3. Why do you use cryptocurrency?
We want players to have true digital ownership of their achievements and prizes. Instead of "virtual points" that cannot be taken out of the game, our prize winners receive a real digital asset traded on global exchanges.

4. What is the CHECK token?
CHECK is the primary utility token of the Anichess ecosystem. Prizes for Lichess x Anichess tournaments are paid out in this token. Your CHECK tokens are real assets that can be tracked on CoinMarketCap and exchanged for fiat currency (US Dollars, Euros, Rubles, Rupees, Pesos, etc.) at the current market rate.

5. Is it safe to play and log in?
Absolutely. Logging into the website is handled through secure, official Google authentication gateways. We will never ask for the passwords to your personal accounts.

PART 2: WEBSITE TROUBLESHOOTING & GAMEPLAY

6. Why is the Anichess website not opening or loading infinitely?
If the website isn't loading, it is highly likely that your country enforces local internet restrictions (such as in Russia or several other nations). This is due to external network limitations, not our platform.

  • Solution: Use a reliable VPN service when accessing the site. Once your VPN is turned on, the website will load and work smoothly.

7. Is this game free to play? I'm on the website—where do I play?

  • The game is absolutely free! You don't need to pay anything just to play.
  • Where to play? To start, we recommend jumping into Standard Mode. This is the general Anichess matchmaking ladder where you can test your skills.
  • Are there paid modes? Yes, there are tournaments with entry fees (e.g., Gambit Mode). Experienced players usually compete there, risking their tokens for a larger prize pool. We do not recommend beginners jump into this mode right away.

8. What are the rules, and how does Anichess differ from regular chess?
Good news: if you know how to play classical chess, you already know how to play 90% of Anichess! All basic piece movements, castling, en passant, and pawn promotion remain exactly the same.

However, to win, you need to keep three main differences in mind:

  1. Spells: Special abilities that go beyond the standard rules of chess. Each spell has its own mana cost and usage limit. Standard matches are played with 3 spells.
  2. Mana: Required to cast spells. You gain 1 mana point every turn (unless you cast a spell on that turn). White starts with 0 mana, and Black starts with 1. You can accumulate a maximum of 8 mana.
  3. No Check, Checkmate, or Stalemate: To win, you must physically "capture" the opponent's king. Because of this, being in check does not prevent you from castling (castling is allowed even if the king or the squares it crosses are under attack).

PART 3: CLAIMING YOUR PRIZE (STEP 1)

9. I won a prize in a Lichess tournament. What should I do next?

  • Register an account on the official Anichess website.
  • Make sure to fill out our Google Form. Without this form, we cannot verify who to send the reward to.
  • Important: If you have already filled out this form once for previous tournaments, you do not need to fill it out again. Your data is already saved in our system!

10. How long does the payout take, and where can I find it?

  • The distribution process takes 72 hours or more. This time is necessary for the Lichess administration to review the tournament for fair play (cheating) and for our team to process the transaction technically.
  • Once your prize is approved, you will see it immediately on your balance inside your Anichess profile.
  • Important: Prizes are only distributed for tournaments completed within the last two weeks. Do not delay filling out the form!

PART 4: HOW TO WITHDRAW YOUR PRIZES (STEP 2)

To get real money onto your bank card, you need a destination crypto account (such as an account on a major crypto exchange or a personal wallet). We have set up three withdrawal pathways tailored for Lichess players:

Pathway #1: Independent (For those who registered an Anichess account via a crypto wallet)
If you are already familiar with Web3 and created your Anichess account using your personal wallet (e.g., MetaMask):

  • You do not need to use the internal DApp interface to manually withdraw rewards. Your CHECK tokens are credited directly to your connected wallet address.
  • REMINDER: Every transaction in crypto requires Gas (network transaction fees). Keep in mind that the CHECK token currently interacts with two networks (Abstract and Base), so make sure you have the required gas in your wallet to cover any further transfers.

Pathway #2: Self-Service via DApp (For those who logged in via Google)
If you registered using social logins, the system automatically generated a built-in wallet for you. You can withdraw the tokens yourself using our DApp interface. Follow this step-by-step video guide to make sure you do everything correctly:

Watch the Step-by-Step CHECK Withdrawal Video Guide on Rumble

  • Pro-Tip: If the withdrawal button vanishes when you open the DApp, don't panic—this is a known technical quirk. Simply log out of your account inside the DApp, refresh the page, and log back in. The button will reappear.

Pathway #3: Via Technical Support [RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNERS]
If you registered via Google but the video guide looks intimidating, and words like "blockchain" and "networks" stress you out, our moderators can process the exchange manually for you.

  1. Join the official Anichess Discord community: https://discord.com/invite/anichess
  2. Look at the left sidebar. Scroll down to the GET SUPPORT category and click on the channel named support-ticket.
  3. Click the "Open Ticket" button on the screen.
  4. Where is your official ticket? As soon as you click the button, look at your left sidebar. A new category called Created Tickets will appear, and inside it, your private channel will open. It will have a lock icon and be named with a number and your Discord username (for example: 9695-your username). Only you and the official Anichess staff can see and read this channel. No scammers can get in there.
  5. Go into that specific channel (e.g., #9695-yourusername) and ask the moderators for help. They will guide you through the process manually, saving you from dealing with network fees on your own.

WARNING: Discord Safety Rules (How to avoid scammers)!

Because Discord can be confusing for beginners, please remember these strict safety rules:

  1. How to spot a scammer: If someone sends you a message that lands in your Direct Messages (DMs)—which is your private inbox on the far left, completely outside the Anichess server—it is a 100% scam. The official team will NEVER send you a DM first. If they do, block them immediately.
  2. Where is the only safe zone? Official help happens ONLY inside the private channel under the Created Tickets category (the one named like #9695-yourusername) that appeared on the left sidebar after you clicked the button.
  3. Look at the color: Official staff members on the server have distinct roles. True administrators and moderators will have their nicknames highlighted in a bright, noticeable color (like bright pink) and will always be listed under special categories like Mod or Anichess Helper in the user list. Regular users and scammers in your DMs will have ordinary white or gray nicknames.

PART 5: CASHING OUT TO YOUR BANK CARD (STEP 3)

Once you have successfully withdrawn your cryptocurrency (like USDT) to your personal wallet or exchange account, it is fully yours. You can keep it as a digital asset or convert it into your local currency (USD, EUR, INR, RUB, etc.) onto your bank card.

  • How to do this safely: To convert crypto into real cash, we strictly recommend using only official, globally recognized cryptocurrency exchanges (such as Bybit, Binance, OKX, etc.)
  • Safety Alert: Never use random Telegram bots, unofficial third-party exchange websites, or trust people in your DMs who offer to "help" you convert your money. Stick only to verified exchange platforms to keep your funds safe!
