@finlip No.
Have you seen townes? Hes so good at the variant he doesnt even need to play e3. In my opinion e3 is a cheap tactic mostly used by weak players to make the game last longer. Sure it is solved but no one has memorized e3 fully to be able to win every single game. I dont think we will be alive to see the day and Antichess might end up not being as popular as it used to before it even has the chance to be memorized that deep.

E3 is definitely the best opening but there's lack of creativity when you use only it. In long matches you should surprise your opponent with different things. Dragon-Lord is my inspiration in creative antichess style.

@finlip I think, all the respect to Watkins, that all anti games should be 960

@the-lone-wolf No, 960 only makes sense with castling. The king isn't a special piece, why restrict it to starting between the rooks?

Good point Mobsteroid!
Everyone should be allowed to play whatever they want. I use 1. e3 as a cheap tactic to try to win more games, and by the time this comes around next, I'll have learnt more openings (maybe even attempt to master a lost opening, as Pepsi suggested to me once), but for this competition, I'm afraid the only chance I have at competing at an over 2000 level is with the main opening I use. I'll reiterate my point of learning a weird defense to 1. e3, if you really want more variety from games against people like me. How many people play 1. f6 as a response, for example? It's losing, but I'll refer to the account f4opening for a source on how to get a win from a lost opening. Be the variety you want to see in the world <3

@Mobsteroid in antichess 960 king is not restricted... that's only valid for chess 960

@the-lone-wolf And how many possible starting positions are there in your antichess "960", exactly? Fischer didn't invent shuffle chess, he invented a specific variation on it that enabled castling.

the possible starting positions should be 7! I guess (5040)
It's called "960" only cause of the analogy with chess 960 (where the castling rule makes sense)

Assuming the bishops have to be on opposite colors, there are 4*4=16 ways to place the bishops.
With the bishops fixed, there are 6*5 ways to place the king and queen.
With the above four pieces fixed, there are 4*3/2=16 ways to place the knights. The rooks will take the remaining squares.
Antichess 16306=2880. Antichess 3*960.
D'oh: for each Chess960 position there are two non-960 positions with the king swapping places with one of the rooks.
