Dear classical chess friends,
CTCL had once more a fine crowd of 161 participants:
https://lichess.org/tournament/Wl9rVCxn
The second to last round was incredibly tight.
Todo Mundo Masters only won by a slightly better performance ahead of C3 – Classical Chess Club.
Échecs & amateurs followed very close behind in 3rd rank.
Congratulations for their great performances!
With this Todo Mundo has brilliantly defended the title 1 round in advance, congratulations!
It’s their 5th crown in 7 editions, amazing!

Hi - I just want to say that the scoring system can be a disincentive to play. Example: in round 10, I was the final player to play for my team (90+30). So, before I played, the team average score was 19/11 = 1.73, 1st place. In my game, I, with 1818 rating and the Black pieces, held a draw against a 2200 rated player who says they are a chess coach with more than 30 years experience.
Rather than this result and extra point counting for something positive for the team, it did the opposite: it reduced the team average from 1.73 to 1.67 and put the team from 1st to 2nd place. Even the extra point that I scored counted for nothing. So, it would have been better for the team had I not played.
To illustrate the point further, if a team has 6 players who all score 2 points by winning their first game, then it is impossible for the following players to improve the team score. All they will do is either keep it the same or reduce it. So, why should they play?
I have read the reason for doing it the way you are, so as to try and level the playing field between large and small teams, and I appreciate the difficulty in coming up with an ideal scoring system, but I just wanted to highlight this point of view: that there is a disincentive to play at times.
Perhaps, in the event of a tie in average score, it would be fairer to first use total points scored as the first tiebreaker, and then performance rating.

@Me2nd
It wouldn’t be fairer since then bigger teams would have a huge advantage.
Every win more will improve the average except when the team has already 12 points with 6 players all having won.
This happened only once in 10 rounds.
You could have been paired with a lower rated player and you could have won the game as well.
It’s the job of the team leader to motivate their members.
So every seriously competing team should be able to have at least 6 players.
That’s why we believe that it is the fairest scoring system possible.
You didn’t know that your team was leading before you started your game.
The average is only calculated after the arena has finished.
