Hello Jann,
first of all thank you for the precision with which you're doing this. I have a question, it's a thing I've been wondering for some time now.
Regarding the method through which you are going to find out who needs to play a qualification round and therefore to pair players, I would like to know what's your idea about those players who have registered for the tournament but have played zero crazyhouse rated (or even not) games.
In all fairness I have personally reminded this fact to most of them, but only one has actually responded and started playing. Others have ignored my message and haven't played one game since. I wouldn't like this to cause a delay of the beginning of the tournament honestly.

Thanks for considering this. In the interest of remaining inclusive to all players, an entrant with no games will be considered unrated with a rating of 0, ranked at the bottom of the field and will therefore be required to play in the single elimination knockout round. In an indirect way, this will ensure players have at least played 10 games before reaching the double elimination knockout stage.

The grace period of 24 hours is specifically to correct for any errors in missed registrations. Reasonable time was provided for the community to spread the word and for players to become aware of the event during the last 4 weeks of registration time (it was longer than this if you include earlier stream announcements prior to registration commencing).

Following the close of registration, I have conducted a machine method to generate the list of entrants from:
- The General Forum
- The Crazyhouse World Championship Team Forum
- Private Messages sent to JannLee
The machine method has then been validated with a manual method by double checking each individual name with hand and eye.
There are a total of 145 participants including the defending champion opperwezen, who will not be required to play until a challenger is determined to oppose him in the grand final.
This means there are 144 starters. Before proceeding, the list below should be checked by the community to ensure that everyone entitled to be registered is included. Only exceptions require notification. After a grace period of 24 hours for this review, the list will be considered finalised and we will commence with the single elimination knockout round.

No Catask? Ah that's a shame. Have circumstances led Crazyhouse into entering a phase akin to that which boxing went through when Tyson was pretty much the champ by default?

This means that setting aside the defending champion opperwezen, there will be 142 starters in the finalised list.
Many thanks to okei and CrazyHome who have built a spreadsheet that takes the average of the current and peak ratings for each player on lichess to form the seed rankings posted in the list below.
In order to reduce 142 players to 128 players, there will be an initial single elimination knockout round containing 28 players, that will be competing for 14 positions.
Players ranked 1 to 114 have automatically qualified to the double elimination knockout stage.
Players ranked 115 to 142 will be competing for 14 positions in the double elimination knockout stage by playing a single elimination knockout round.
Further details on match pairings and rules related to matches will be provided in a new thread as this forum thread is now closed for the purpose of registration.
