@catask vs @IgorBugMate Tuesday, March 23, 21:00 UTC
@Valandir vs @whitedancingrockstar rescheduled to Sunday 21/3, 11:00 UTC
I was not sure when the appropriate time might be to post what I am about to say, but a brief skim reading of recent posts tells me that I am not going to be the first to do so.
I stand to be corrected but I gather that my first-round opponent is @blijmetsjoerd69, whom I contacted (while apparently online) last Friday, not having been contacted myself. My understanding is that matches were to be scheduled by 21st March, which is today. In anticipation of this eventuality and in accordance with instructions here https://lichess.org/forum/team-crazyhouse-world-championship/crazyhouse-world-championship-2021-tournament-schedule#1 I asked the only tournament organiser who was online at the time, @FischyVishy, what I should do and his response (verbal, as he was streaming at the time) was "I have been getting this question a lot, I think he just forfeits" or words to that effect.
I understand that such a forfeit is to be avoided if possible, while at the same time repercussive delays to forthcoming matches are also undesirable. All of this puts me in a dilemma, but if what is needed is for someone to make a decision then I am prepared to do so. Therefore, assuming that everything I have said is correct, I claim a forfeit.
I do not know whether this is necessary but I shall ping the organisers I have not already mentioned with a view to getting a confirmation (@JannLee, @littleplotkin, @okei, @LegionDestroyer, @googa, @grogers)
Forfeits will be given if necessary but can’t be claimed and will be avoided as far as possible. If anyone has tried to contact their opponent without success, please ping them here in the forum like Marlonc has done so we know who the inactive party is. There will be a grace period of a week for inactive parties to arrange and play the match.
My thanks to @okei for the above, I'm kind of glad that it is not my decision but I have to say the last sentence raises a question or two.
"There will be a grace period of a week for inactive parties to arrange and play the match."
All right, when does said grace period begin? From the time of the first attempt at contact? Presumably not, in cases where the first attempt was more than a week before deadline day. Also, what happens if the inactive party's approach is something like waiting till the last minute before saying "Yeah hi I can play NOW" or similar? Are these adjudicated on a case-by-case basis?

Thanks for the ping, I was getting spammed bij team messages and it got flooded. I messaged you back and we should be able to schedule our match today
@grogers v @priyanshu1502 supposed to be happening right about now. But looks like a no-show.
I have a new father :(. @Flourish wins 10-0 against @GingerbreadMan17. GGs and good luck to him for the remainder of the competition.
