CWC Candidates 2020 - Final Standings

NOTE: Post from JannLee
NOTE2: Hi :)
NOTE3: NOTE2 from FischyVishy

Hi everyone,

The final standings for CWC Candidates 2020 had been delayed for a period of time in order to work through an approach to account for the 7 unplayed matches below:

  • Kingswitcher vs ArtOfDeception
  • Kingswitcher vs Bugzilla
  • Kingswitcher vs gsvc
  • Kingswitcher vs mastertan
  • Kingswitcher vs Mugwort
  • Kingswitcher vs VariantsOnly
  • Kingswitcher vs xuanet

Throughout the duration of the tournament, it was determined that the opponents of Kingswitcher had made greater efforts to complete these matches. Therefore the 7 opponents will still be entitled to their full allocation of prize money. However, Kingswitcher will be entitled to 4/11 of his prize money allocation.

Beyond this, the remaining situation is that 4 players completed all their matches, while 8 players did not.

Rather than exclude all of Kingswitcher's results or award 10-0 forfeit results to all, it seemed fairer to attempt an objective and mathematical method of estimation of results based on performance during the CWC Candidates.

To be transparent with this approach, the method is available to the public on the CWC Candidates scoreboard in Excel format here:
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10MPghGlSfbgkWN3McgIKIFlrAedPmFA0B2RC9ftKncA
Please refer to the sheet named "Standings with Estimates" for the final standings.

A video has also been provided to cover context and walk through the approach here:
