They both have a wildcard for the candidates @MessyAnswer
Who are those very strong players, other than cren and CCR?
TT is automatically in the Candidates not because of the wild card, but because he was last year's challenger to the throne. opper was given the wild card (also third place finisher in last year's Candidates).

Others: not really top players like TT, opper, cren, CCR, mastertan, etc. (I contacted mariorton and yscorpion anw)
jefferyx from chess.com? No idea how strong he really is, but he did score 7/7 in the qualifier, beating mastertan and CCR in the process.
(Edit: 2208 on ICC and the rating appears to be active. No idea how ICC ratings would compare these days, but that seems low.)
