I'm just unsure...What do you think, googa and tipau? Your predictions for the R1 match won't count anyway, so...?

How about introducing some kind of drop results?
@ubdip You mean that we can, say, drop the worst three results and not have them count for the score? Hmm, that's interesting. Then the scoring system would have to be changed so that's it's in percentages, right?
@FischyVishy Yes, that is what I meant, but I do not think we would need to switch to percentages.
The problem is that some participants did not send in predictions in time for a few games (I do not know how many, let's say three), because there was a short notice. If we introduce three drop results (e.g. for the first round of the candidates, the candidates, or the whole tournament) that would mean that two perfect predictors would have the same score regardless of whether they sent in predictions for the said games. So on the one hand the disadvantage would be mitigated, but on the other hand those who sent in predictions and got them correctly might still benefit from it. I think this would be a good compromise.
I apologize, but I'm a bit slow today...Wouldn't that be equivalent to not having one round count for the predictions?
No. If a player who sent in the predictions in time has incorrectly predicted other matches (in the same portion where the drop results can be applied, e.g. if it is limited to the candidates or the like), he could drop these instead of possibly correctly predicted matches that would be dropped if we simply do not count the matches that were announced with short notice.
Sorry if my explanations are confusing.
Yes, but how would a dropped result help? The player gets zero points for not correctly predicting a match (at all), and if he were to drop those bad predictions, he or she would still get zero points...That's why I was talking about a different scoring system.
Hehe it's not you who's confusing. I think I'm confusing myself :P.
The point is that if a player got zero points in less than three matches, the drop results would have an effect. That is why I talked about limiting the scope of the drop results to some (small) amount of matches, so that this can actually happen.
Anyway, it was just an attempt to provide an idea for a possible compromise. I think that you and the participants should discuss the details if it comes into question.
@ubdip I still don't understand...What's the difference between a 0 and dropping the result?
Drop results are not optional, you have to drop a fixed number of results. E.g. for six matches and three drop results and one participant missed 3 matches, we could have:
#1 scores: (0) (0) (1) 1 1 1 = 3
#2 scores: (-) (-) (-) 0 1 3 = 4
