Give Tutor a try

I haven't got my games checked yet.

Probably the main reason why is because of how many people are using it. I can't blame this on the site since there is so many people, it will take a long time. I will get my games analyzed in 2 hours!

This morning when I say the tutor, I only click once and never saw the definitions. I spent 4 hours brewing up some definitions and if I would have click one more on the page, I would have seen them. The first page said click to see more, but the second page did not. That's were I had stopped.

I think the blue buttons in the link below would be more obvious if they replaced the text "Your white openings" & "Your black openings". At the moment they are at the bototm of the screen. Not everyone will scroll to the bottom to see what is there.

Is there going to be (in our preferences) something like: Share your chess insights data, Share your chess tutor data.
I would enable mine, like I've done for my chess insights data. Some players do like to compare standings and ratings. So I would assume they would also like to compare their statistics to others. I guess this could also detect strengths and weakness of bot's too.

You already show: 79.3% vs 81.6% (peers) over 35,214 moves
After a decade I only found 74 won games and 283 lost games against the computer.
So my WDL against the computer levels is 74/12/283.
But what is my WDL when I play against humans or my peers?

Human W-D-L
W-D-L: 13,642 – 1,256 – 18,527
but that is not in perecentage. This is:

Stat, Against Humans, Against Computer
Win %, 40.8%, 20.1%
Draw %, 3.8%, 3.2%
Loss %, 55.4%, 76.7%
Total Games: Against Humans 33425, Against Computer: 369

The WDL would be useful in everyones profiles.

I haven't explored it thoroughly but at the moment I think it's an awesome feature! Seeing the stats such as "time management", "conversion", and such is really helpful for me as it shows me wear I should improve, especially on the lower end of ratings in most controls (80th percentile or so).

@thibault I just tried it out. Is there a way to filter out blitz and bullet games? If not, you should add some filters because I don't play those controls seriously and haven't even played them in a while. At the very least, you should add a time filter.

A time control filter and a filter for how long ago you want your games to go would be SOOOO great.
Thanks.

I think there are two discrepancies for
https://lichess.org/tutor/Toadofsky/blitz/opening/black/Italian_Game

First, my personal opening explorer doesn't indicate 233 games as Black (no matter how I change its date filter):

Estimated performance rating.

2030 vs 2128 (peers) over 233 games

Second, the 7-segment UI component showing 1/7... yes, there is a weakness in my opening knowledge (and trending downward in recent years in this opening), but holes in opening knowledge could be much worse.

Hey nice feature!

I noticed this though:

lichess-tutor.png

I have more than 100% of my games with the french defense opening in blitz, I know I play it a lot but more than 100% of the time lol?
Maybe it predicts some things and that's wanted idk but I don't understand it.

Very cool feature, here some of my thoughts:

  • The tutor says it analysed all my games, or at least it says it did. I am not sure on whether there was some way to set it differently, but I would think that if there are loads of games, then it's more beneficial to select just a subset of them (ideally more recent, or focusing on a specific opening. I assume the tool just take the computer evaluation and assign a score for each game and then average them together? If so, it should be possible to select the games we want to group together after the tutor is done to quickly get insights on different themes (If not, ignore all this)
  • The stats are cool, but a from a "tutor" you expect to learn something valuable, not just your strenght and weaknesses overview. CTAs are very few and not super natural to reach in my opinion, being available just on the game phases and opening tabs (but I might be blind). Ideally, I would think it could be beneficial to collect all the "learn from your mistakes" sort of puzzles for each category and propose them to the user (or even just link resources / studies / private coaches). Of course this makes little sense with time management, but it's weird to navigate trough the stats, notice I have little resourcefulness, but not have anything to click to help me directly on the specific topic. (and as many other people said, I understand the concept of resourcefulness but maybe the computer means something slightly different and end up wasting my time).

I understand if my comment may seem overly pessimistic, but is Tutor in its current form not just (a small part of) Insights that are getting compared to other players? The visuals do look better.
