Why do some bots have an inherent advantage when it comes to the bracket formation? They don't play the first round; instead, they play the winner of the first round.

Good question. The bracket will still change. It changes every time new bots are added, but I will also give a seeding number to all bots (based on their ratings) just before the tournament starts. That will change the bracket a lot. If the number of bots is a power of 2 then no bot will skip the first round. If it isn't then the highest rated bots get that advantage. This can't be prevented with this tournament system, but it probably won't change who wins the tournament because the highest rated bots aren't paired against each other in the first round and it's double elimination so no bots are eliminated after round 1 (as long as they play their games).
