Lit Defense

The Lit Defense is an interesting option by Black to try to destroy the London, but the London can not be destroyed! If you encounter the Lit here is what to do:

@GBA87 I think black plays 7...Bg7 first! But even after d6, and then Qh5 h6 Ngf3 black should play Bg7 (not Rg8)

Either this or play 3.Nc3

5...Ne4 is not good for black, as it allows white to play Be5 followed by Bxb8. After that, black has either lost the right to castle or finds himself with weaknesses (in case he plays f6 to dislodge white's bishop on e5)

@picchiolu I tried to convince @Water_Flame it wasn't an amazing move, but he is stuck on Ne4 and thinks it's the greatest move ever. I'm not sure why.

6.Be5?! Wastes a either wastes a tempo or makes an unfavorable trade. Better is 6.Nd2!, Which exchanges Blacks good knight instead of his bad one and opens the h file for Whites rook.

@picchiolu You don't play f6, you play Rg8 instead, supporting a brutal kingside attack for black

@Water_Flame but after Rg8, white can capture on b8 and, after black's recapture with the rook, black has lost the right to castle. I struggle to see the compensation for this.

Looking at it more I guess I agree. @picchiolu 5...Bg7 might be a more sound and less weakening try
