@GBA87 Even an FM has called The Lit "promising" ;)
Sorry if the facts hurt you too much!

Once I drew you @Water_Flame. Also you're a 1900 and I'm a 1400.
@GBA87 Accepted a draw just because it was a casual game and I didn't care...
@GBA87 "Youre a 1900 and I'm a 1400" So by that logic, the 1400 really shouldn't be telling the 2000 here what's refuted and what's not... And even titled players on here consider the Lit quite playable... but your 1400 self must be a super reliable one to hear what openings are refuted or not. In our game you can't even properly refute the Latvian, which is almost suicidal for black. So surely, if you don't even know how to refute THAT, you probably would have no idea how to properly refute the Lit (If it were refutable, which it is not)...
It was an even position @Water_Flame. And my knowledge of opening theory is superior to my actual play. :(
@GBA87 Such knowledge of opening theory but you don't even know how to refute the Latvian... hm. Fact is, the Lit has been proven playable through thorough testing. In fact, @FunnyAnimatorJimTV , a London player, seems to agree the Lit is perfectly sound and prefers to simply avoid it since it's so strong. He's also moved on from 3. c3 as black has found lots of dynamic ideas in that line. He plays 3. Nd2 now, which is probably white's only try for a slight advantage though black has nice ideas in that line too. The Lit has put up against many different anti-Lit tries and has survived them all!
I only study theory that is actually practical (i.e. Not Latvian), but 3.Nd2 does work, too
@GBA87 3. c3 promises black immediate equality. 3. Nd2 gives white a slight edge but no more than in any normal opening such as the Ruy Lopez etc. I dare you to find a true refutation of the Lit. Reality is you won't. It's proven sound. Even Stockfish doesn't call it an inaccuracy!
Fine. I take it back. The Lit Defense is not refuted. However, it does guarantee White an edge @Water_Flame
@GBA87 Show me a line where white is guarenteed an advantage
