2022 Racing Kings 1440 Open Championship Registration Forum

For all interested in the 2022 Racing Kings 1440 Open Championship, here is the registration forum!

In order to register for this tournament here's what you'll need to do:

  • Post a message in this forum or send a personal message to @Positions1440 saying something along the lines of "I would like to play" or "I'm in" as well as the link to your CVT account. It should looks something like this: https://chessvariants.training/User/Profile/521 (This is the link to the profile of the 2021 RK1440 OC Winner on CVT). You will receive a DM (if allowed by site settings) from @Positions1440 if you meet all requirements or not.

Here's the gist of the remaining rules:
2. The tournament is a two-stage format. The first stage is a random pairing of all players to decide the seeding for the second stage. The second stage is a pure single-elimination bracket. The purpose of this is to insure two matches for each participant.
3. Each match or pairing in the tournament will be a 6-game, 3-position match. Each player plays white and black of random positions in the time control of 3+2. See this video on how to do so: youtu.be/RLkAOADZvSU
4. The matches are scored based on positions, or the pair of games played in each position. If players are tied on position score, the first tie-breaker is game score of the series. The rest of tie-breakers are changing the time control and playing games of random positions to continue until the score is broken. See rules document for full information.
5. Each player must reach out to their pair or opponent for scheduling their match. They will be allowed a week to schedule and play their match on CVT. Extensions and forfeits will be made based off of individual cases.

@cFlour @luka3916 @vlad_00 @Chijss

Thank you for signing up! It is much appreciated, but as you can see there are only 4 registrants with a week left in registrations. This is quite the predicament!

So, here's the heads-up on the situation. The tournament needs at least 8 players to function properly and be treated like a real competition. So, if by the end of registration, there is not 8 registrants, the 2022 RK1440 OC will be cancelled. If you wish to play RK1440 despite that, feel free to, but there will be no formal tournament if there are less than 8 registrants.

I hope that we do get enough registrants and please spread the word and urge others to join if you do want to see this event happen! Thanks!
