Should we create a World Horde Front?

We have a team for every variant except for horde. Is it time to create one for Horde as well?

I know some of our teams, namely for Crazyhouse, Chess 960 and Three-Check, still have few players, so there is a high chance that the same will happen with the World Horde Front, at least for the first couple months. The problem, though, with all these teams isn’t any lack of players; I had checked all WAF 2 players’ ratings some time ago in every variant and had concluded that there were enough high-rated players to carry us in any variant and support some plans for these teams. The problem is lack of care and attention.

I believe we can give some more attention to our smaller teams instead of waiting for them to grow by themselves. We could start by creating the World Horde Front and request to be included in the official Three-Check and Horde team battles. We could follow up by assigning more leaders to our smaller teams and tasking them to encourage players to participate in team battles, so that our teams will have better performances and will be a lucrative destination for new players-or remind the already existing leaders of their role. Finally, we could implement some creative ideas that would make the environment of these teams more friendly and enjoyable.

So, what do you think? Should we create a World Horde Front?

I'm no expert on really anything but I think the horde front would kinda just fail for a few reasons

  1. there's no weekly horde team battles
  2. we don't really have any well known horde players in the world front team
  3. Horde isn't a very good size varient for a big team you either need a really big varient where there are so many players that your team will grow fast if you market it right or its small and everybody knows each other so that if someone starts a team they can get a lot of people can join but horde has neither so it would kinda not work
  4. nobody well known to lead it this is basically a con of 2 but without good horde players we have nobody amazing to lead it. if we had an amazing top 10 horde player willing to lead it then maybe it would work better but i'm pretty sure we don't though i feel like @owlie_sel knows a guy

Hello! I carefully went through your responses, and here’s what I have to say:

  1. @owlie_sel, we could count on you for the Weekly Horde Battles, or create our own somehow. Would you consider, though, sending a message to Lichess moderators and ask them, if they can create a weekly Horde battle? Maybe writing a forum...
  2. I’ll keep searching, but we have some great Horde players. Other than @royal_horde29, which was mentioned by Selbi, we have @matvei-e2e4, who is currently the 3rd best Horde player. Both of them could become leaders, offer us Horde studies and carry us in tournaments, is they want to. There are also some other players above 1700 (some are even above 2000) who could participate and help us win tournaments.
  3. Selbi, the tournaments you created are awesome! It’s also reassuring that in two of them @royal_horde29 played for us, it means they might reconsider playing for us again.
  4. @OLLiEparker I didn’t really understand what you meant exactly in the third point, more specifically I don’t get how we can’t make either a big team, or a small with players that know each other for Horde. And what is a variant size, what does it mean that Horde isn’t a very good size variant?
  5. Regarding our other small teams, we should start by requesting the addition of the World 3 Check Front to the official Lichess Three-Check Battle. We could continue by promoting these Fronts in the other teams of the Alliance and encourage participation in other variants, while representing these teams, not the stronger ones.
That’s all I have to say for now. I’ll keep searching for decent Horde players in the World Antichess Front.

Thanks for the response Selbi! However, I have a few things to say:

  1. Why is it not possible for an official Lichess Horde Battle to be made? Did the leader tell you why? Does anyone have any idea why that's the case?
  2. There are a lot of things we could do about Matvei. First of all, in tournaments, in which their team doesn't participate, we could count on them. Other than that, Matvei could become a leader just to increase our certainty and trust, not necessarily to play. Finally, as an expert Horde player, Matvei could offer us studies and help with our Horde training.
  3. I'm glad we can sometimes count on royal! Now that I've checked, though, I saw that there are a few decent Horde players in the World Antichess Front that could help us in Horde battles.

well lucky us i happen to know both of the official horde leaders unlucky for us he said "nope not happening any time soon" exact wording and he listed very similar reasons on why it wouldnt work so yeah you would have to do it yourself and i still think it would fall flat

Yes @owlie_sel, New group named Horde front and small help from expert team leaders like yourself @owlie_sel and @stefil to gather members.

The current Horde leader's goal as a leader is to discourage team battles to honor the nerdiness of the community as he is a nerd himself, He believes in the saying "If Im introverted, everyone must be introverted".

The top 10 have their 2 alts on top 10 and are extremely nerdy to even talk.

Though I can talk to The real Top 3 to play.
