Dear IAF and antichess players.
I write this as @firebatprime asked to fill in a survey for the development of the IAF.
I think we can all agree that since October 2020 the antichess community has exploded with activity. Thanks to the IAF I think we have grown in our solidarity and making a name for antichess here on Lichess. Great idea's have been realized with online tournaments and steadily our community is growing.
Sadly I must also announce that we currently are in a bit of a stalemate. I don't see much development. We do have our ongoing events with 360WC and antichess teambattle, and of course there are a bit of online events scheduled. But this doesn't bring much to the table. Everyone can organize an online arena. And while we do see a rise in number of attendees on the Antichess shield/monthly/weekly Lichess arena's. There isn't much more to be done from here.
So what can we do to help improving the IAF?
To focus on expanding, and making a name for ourselves. We have to look outside Lichess. In 2022 the first IAF live event will be held, and this will be met with national interest in the chessworld of the Netherlands! Local newspapers might as well attain a bit of publicity for this event, and there you have it: people outside of lichess will read these 3 characters 'IAF'. It is important that people outside this silly forum see what the IAF stands for.
With the Amsterdam live event we hope to make a YEARLY event that will get known in the Dutch chess community, and hope it will grow bigger and bigger. These are the first steps in acquiring a name for the IAF. I hope this encourages more people to follow the initiative! Everyone knows the Tata Steel event, because the FIDE is known worldwide. What they did to acquire there name isn't that much different than what we have to do. More live events with the IAF waving its flag draws attention to its name.
So set up a business e-mail! this really improves on the contact form!
Furthermore. Youtube!
Agadmator is an example who just started a channel, and became more known over time by steadily doing what he did. Take notes people, there is a future in following that idea. He now has over a million subscribers in 3 years of posting video's. The IAF can do that too!
These are tips that I would really consider to improve on!
Cheers,
Richard
