Chess.com or Lichess??? Pros and cons to both websites.
There are many chess websites in the world, but chess.com and Lichess.org are certainly among the best. Let's look at which website you should use.Lichess
Lichess is the platform you are on right now. It is completely nonprofit and has most of chess.com's features, like game review, for free. Lichess does not limit puzzles or other key training features, and seems like the right choice. So why is chess.com so popular?
Chess.com
Chess.com is the most popular chess platform in the world. Although it has many features, these are usually limited. The only thing guests can do on chess.com is games and the daily puzzle and play bots. Can't you do those things on Lichess too??
Well, yes you can. However, what if you made an account on chess.com? If you do, then this is what you get:
- Limited Puzzles
- Access to playing games
- Limited lessons
- Limited training materials
- Access to today, yesterday, and the day before's daily puzzle
- One game review per day
- Free analysis
- A huge social network
- Divisions
If you make an account on Lichess, here is what you get:
- Access to all puzzles and puzzle database
- Access to Choose-your-rating style games
- Access to the lessons and practice database
- Every other feature for free
- Infinite game review
- Access to today's daily puzzle
- A huge social network
At first glance, you can see this: All of Lichess' features are free to everyone.
However, Chess.com has better features, you may have not known. Also, they are extremely strict and want to keep you safe, like Lichess.
If you pay diamond for chess.com, you will have access to better and more effective training materials than Lichess
But if you don't want diamond for chess.com, I suggest you stick to Lichess, as it has gold and platinum features for chess.com, and more.
Lichess also has things like coordinates, and unique features that chess.com doesn't have.
So here is my analysis: (-)
If you are serious and committed to chess, I suggest you buy diamond for chess.com and take full advantage of it's resources.
If you just play chess for fun but want to get good, I suggest you play on Lichess for the time being.
However, the choice is yours!!
