Hi hereby promise to make a conscious effort in limiting playing time to only those times in which i really want to play:)
I am also tired to get so mad when i lose... and because i have played out of boredom.
It's nice to hear that even gm smash their phones... if they do, i could definitely be more sympathetic with those two times i smashed mine after a game :D

why are some people saying its spam? I looked through his blogs and none mention this topic. But I definitely get this article. I play out of boredom and so on and I play terribly every time I do that. I totally understand when you lose some games out of boredom and want to break your computer/phone/tablet/etc.

I'm never going to read another article on LiChess again.
Perhaps a tad extreme, but articles like this have made me think the same thought.
If you want to play tournaments competitively, there will be games and days where you have to play regardless of your form or how you feel, especially if your opportunities come far and few between.
I've spent the last 10 year deliberately playing when I'm "tilted" and when I "don't feel like it". To some degree I've learned to "turn it around" on demand. It can be done, just takes practice, practice, practice. Of course, if you aren't really passionate about chess, or whatever the game, you won't be successful.
Great shooters in basketball shoot through the slumps, great hitters in baseball swing through the slumps. Face it head on and own it, make it yours, and turn it around. You can build the willpower to do it!

This is LiChess FFS. The rating points do not matter, so just effing play.

Good article, glad to know even GMs are susceptible to this. It's nice to play a few games without really thinking if you're winning, but if you lose you view the whole thing wrong. I was almost at 1700 in blitz but now dropped below 1500. Not because I'm not good, just because I play at the wrong times and wrong format. I'd be much better with rapid
Cheers!!
