I can see your parents didn't teach you the basics of education. "To a certain human here"? Who you think you're talking to? Your brother or sister? Also I'm much older than you, and you know it. To me it was teached to show respect to older people, and I always did it, unless I was the disrespected one.
About what you said, I disagree. I never complained over the advertising. I criticized. It is different. Do you dislike freedom of speech?
I complained about my ban. And I have all the right to do so because I've been publicly shamed for something that, believe it or not, I NEVER EVEN WAS TEMPTED DOING, without any evidence shared against me. I accepted to be marked at their will if they believed they cheated, I accepted it in the ToS. But nobody told me I could have been banned for cheating without doing it. If I knew it I played anonymous.
I play chess online since 2010. Before many here, including you probably, were even born. Years of passion, studying, training. I played real OTB tournaments all over the place in the region where I live, despite the lack of money, the poor results and my serious chronic health issues. And they spit over me as a person and over my huge passion for chess. And now I have to read a kid like you writing this stuff.
Kid, you don't have the slightest idea how angry I am. I am livid, furious. Almost two years passed, but it didn't go away. To be clear: it's not about the account. I couldn't care less about an online chess account. It's the unfair public defamation what I don't accept. My name and surname were linked to that account.
I don't think cheating in online chess is such a terrible thing to do. I just always thought it is one of the most stupid and pathethic a person can do, and I deeply despised people who did them, I find them ridicolous. I can understand it from kids, not from adults. And now I'm labelled as one of them. I feel ridiculed.
I suffered a lot for it. Probably too much. I'm a pathethic loser, a weirdo and a person with various psychological problems. Of course, I can't blame lichess for this. But they unjustly gave me another reason to suffer. And yes, I do blame them for it. And there's no way, NO WAY IN THE WORLD I will ever forget or forgive lichess admins and what they did to me.
If they publicly shared the evidence of my cheating I'd be completely ok. But no. They publicly say I'm a crook and I don't even know why. And since no evidence was shared I can't even defend myself.
I think the staff here, if they banned me in good faith (something I'm not sure at all about), think I'm crazy. Of course, in their view, it's impossible they made a mistake. I must be crazy, in their view.
Well, I'm not. If I was the crazy man they think I am, given how furious I am, be sure at least one of them wouldn't be alive anymore. Some of them are not anonymous and actually very easy to trace. Also each year they meet publicly. If I wanted I could easily hurt many of them. But luckily for them, I'm just a weirdo and I will not hurt anyone.
It was a mistake to write here. Just like it would have been a mistake at the time of Nazi Germany to say Hitler maybe wasn't that nice. Just like it's not a good idea to enter a Church and say God doesn't exist. People here would defend lichess even if they say war is a beautiful thing.
There is something you didn't get: people here in the forum are a vast minority of lichess users. Most lichess users are just chess players, lichess is just a platform to them, not a religion, and they don't waste time in a place like this.
Also, I think very few adults are active in this forum.
Do you like this place? Enjoy. I warned you. Online communities are all bad, and this one isn't an exception.
Yes, Thanks for your “very serious warning”. We will definitely (not) need it in the future (probably never).

Clarification: I didn't intend on threatening anyone, and I'm sorry if my message was perceived like that.

You didn't call me 哥哥 nor older brother, but "a certain human", which is clearly derogatory and a lack of respect.
How is that a lack of respect? Can you please explain?
Mine aren't threats at all. How on Earth me saying I won't hurt anyone is threatening? I was just pointing out that if I was a crazy man as they maybe think I am I just would have gone to one of their meetings and hurt them. It's not like I didn't have the chance to.
However, you're right in saying it could bring me legal issues. I removed the content.
From next time on, think before you speak.
The comparison with nazis is not an exaggeration. The people here are not as dangerous obviously, but fanatical about the same.
I'm sorry for bringing your age here, I didn't even consider you maybe wanted it to remain private. If you want I'll remove that part.
Again, have some basic consideration for someone's privacy on a public stage.
I'm not condescending at you. I don't treat you less because you're young. I don't feel superior because I'm older. I don't think I must be right and you wrong because I'm older.
I never did anything like that in my whole life. I always considered such behaviours very stupid. I never felt superior to younger people. Quite the opposite actually, as one ages his strenght and intelligence decline. I envy younger people.
Oh yeah? Then what about the post where you said that you deserve to be respected because of your age?
I grew my sister's kids, I've been their best friend since when they were babies. One of the few worthy things I did in my life. Not even once I treated them like kids, not even when they were 5. I always treated them as my equals.
One thing you don't understand- nobody cares what you did with your sister's kids here. We saw how you treat people whom you have never met before, in this forum.

Wow, very well-timed @arvheckjays. You literally have caught the attention of all of us and literally threatening the staff. Definitely well-timed.

This will be my last message on this matter because we're not going anywhere trying to discuss this.

"To a certain person here" is a lighthearted alternative to "you know who you are" where I live. Both are mostly humorous and are not said to offend, but instead subtly call out somebody. Perhaps it's a regional English thing that turned it to a derogatory phrase for you?
-
No, I will never use titles to refer to anybody here. Nobody gets a "sir" or "ma'am" from me, so why should it be different for things like "older brother"?
This is an online forum. We are all equal here regardless of age. And I will treat everybody as such. Besides, it is usually kind of odd to see any sort of "sir" or equivalent online - and usually when it is used, there is some heavy sarcasm attached, basically making calling anybody anything besides their name and neutral phrases sound patronizing.
(Not to mention, it would be mighty odd to call somebody a brother if they did not come from a background where such a thing is normal. Even then, it is seldom done online as it removes a certain degree of anonymity.)

@arvheckjays I completely understand on some deep level why you think Lichess was marketing and advertising MSF but , it simple terms it's just another charity doing good deeds, so what's the harm in doing good for the world? But at maybe a deeper mental level you're on I can see where you're coming from, try to remember most , humans aren't awake to anything they're just normal human beings going through life trying to help ,, each other , I'll post this to say I understand you brother but you really need to chill out and stop your anger , I don't believe in morpheus' truth but remember @arvheckjays most humans have not a clue why you're so upset.

Ok, just end the forum here and now please. This forum has been hijacked and has been made off-topic. Just end the discussion about “advertising”. If anyone wants to talk something in the forum, then pls talk regarding to the topic. Yes the whole “thinking that lichess is lying and advertising” thing is to the topic, but then it has been going very off-topic. Just end it here.

You all criticize arvheckjays' anger but first you should experience the fact of being banned for cheating without actually having cheated for real. Usually it's even worse as we are not allowed to create a new account after that, so we are banned for life. So if after that you are able not to feel any anger, that's all in your honor but i don't think many people would be able to do so.
I guess that most people think it's almost never happening, and in those rare cases the appeal would be able to repair the error. The fact is that it's much more common as we may think and the appeal is not always very effective, but you will not be able to know that until it happens to you.
