Not to mention that your criticism is completely out of place. It is not Lichess which puts the blog on your front page, it is the algorithm. As of now- this blog has 267 likes and 14808 views, which the algorithm decides is good enough for the front page. And you are also in your right to NOT view the blog, no one forced it upon you. You did it out of your own free will.
And- who do you think YOU are to tell someone wasn't taught right by their parents? Why do you think your age is even relevant in this discussion? Who are you to talk about respect, when you yourself don't respect the community? Just stop yapping- this isnt the place for it.
If you dont wish to see a blog, you are completely in your right to not see it. If you wish to leave, you are very much free to do so.

As a ABC (American-born Chinese), I find this paragraph to be frankly kind of ridiculous, and also ignorant.
My family hails from China, a country well-known for respecting their elders. In China, everybody is called an older brother/sister, uncle/aunt, grandma/grandpa based on marriage status and age gaps, regardless of blood relationships. I have indeed gotten a very through education on this, as it's something pretty essential to know in our traditions.
Based on your marriage status and the age gap between us, the correct term for me to use to call you *is* 哥哥, or older brother in English. In other words, yes, using a very neutral and non-insulting phrase to someone I am supposed to consider a brother in my native culture is perfectly acceptable.
You are not as old as you think. Certainly not an elder.
And respect? It isn't a reward that happens with age. I give respect to people worthy of respect and I don't discriminate on age. I will extend politeness to all...but respect is a two-way road and should be treated as such.

Freedom of speech is fine. You have a right to your opinion, and I have a right to disagree with you. Both are protected under law.

I will remind you, @arvheckjays, that when we first talked I treated you with perfect politeness and even respect and let you talk all about this. You can testify yourself that this is true. I listened, and even offered to take your side, which you refused on the grounds of believing me to be too naive to just believe you "when nobody else will". But now people telling you that they don't believe you are also naive.

Yes, most people don't go on forums. You don't have to either like I said before. Complete Zen mode helps focus for people who are more serious about chess, while others, like myself, who value social aspects too, stay here.
This was what I was talking about. You are free to leave at any point in time. Nobody is stopping you. If you choose to stay here, then anything other people say are mere natural consequences of your decision.

Forgot to mention - just to clarify what I said about the brother title earlier before you come after me - yes, brother and uncle can be used interchangeably here with the age gap. But brother is preferred as using a younger title to refer to someone is more polite.
TL;DR - no matter how you put it, you just ain't that old.

And I can see that your parents didn’t teach you common sense, Mr. “Oh I am so old so I need to be respected”. Anyways, this is online chess. No one cares if you’re old or not. And did we say lichess is “a religion”? Lichess saying “war is a beautiful thing” is different than “advertising” here. And it’s just a lichess account not your fide profile or something. Grow up please. Just create another account. And complaining and criticising is the same thing. And why do you think you’re so entitled? Why? Just cuz you’re old? That does not even begin to make sense. You’re just one of them entitled ones who think “Oh I am so old so every needs to follow and respect me”. If you do good for the community then you will be respected. Otherwise then you won’t be and that’s not my problem.

That’s not “freedom of speech”. That’s just nuisance that is created by you just because lichess is trying to lend a helping hand to MSF. And “freedom of speech” is just a mere excuse to cover up the actual thing you’re doing.
