I can see your parents didn't teach you the basics of education. "To a certain human here"? Who you think you're talking to? Your brother or sister? Also I'm much older than you, and you know it. To me it was teached to show respect to older people, and I always did it, unless I was the disrespected one.
As a ABC (American-born Chinese), I find this paragraph to be frankly kind of ridiculous, and also ignorant.
My family hails from China, a country well-known for respecting their elders. In China, everybody is called an older brother/sister, uncle/aunt, grandma/grandpa based on marriage status and age gaps, regardless of blood relationships. I have indeed gotten a very through education on this, as it's something pretty essential to know in our traditions.
Based on your marriage status and the age gap between us, the correct term for me to use to call you is 哥哥, or older brother in English. In other words, yes, using a very neutral and non-insulting phrase to someone I am supposed to consider a brother in my native culture is perfectly acceptable.
You are not as old as you think. Certainly not an elder.
And respect? It isn't a reward that happens with age. I give respect to people worthy of respect and I don't discriminate on age. I will extend politeness to all...but respect is a two-way road and should be treated as such.
About what you said, I disagree. I never complained over the advertising. I criticized. It is different. Do you dislike freedom of speech?
Freedom of speech is fine. You have a right to your opinion, and I have a right to disagree with you. Both are protected under law.
I complained about my ban. And I have all the right to do so because I've been publicly shamed for something that, believe it or not, I NEVER EVEN WAS TEMPTED DOING, without any evidence shared against me. I accepted to be marked at their will if they believed they cheated, I accepted it in the ToS. But nobody told me I could have been banned for cheating without doing it. If I knew it I played anonymous.
There is a time and place for talking about being banned and it is not here on a fundraising forum.
[rant about cheating, not gonna quote the whole thing cuz it's there in the above forum posts]
I will remind you, @arvheckjays, that when we first talked I treated you with perfect politeness and even respect and let you talk all about this. You can testify yourself that this is true. I listened, and even offered to take your side, which you refused on the grounds of believing me to be too naive to just believe you "when nobody else will". But now people telling you that they don't believe you are also naive.
Does anybody ever win?
Well, I'm not. If I was the crazy man they think I am, given how furious I am, be sure at least one of them wouldn't be alive anymore. Some of them are not anonymous and actually very easy to trace. Also each year they meet publicly. If I wanted I could easily hurt many of them. But luckily for them, I'm just a weirdo and I will not hurt anyone.
If I were you, I would be careful even making hypothetical threats against people that you don't plan on acting on. I am sure you understand such things could easily land you in legal hot water.
It was a mistake to write here. Just like it would have been a mistake at the time of Nazi Germany to say Hitler maybe wasn't that nice. Just like it's not a good idea to enter a Church and say God doesn't exist. People here would defend lichess even if they say war is a beautiful thing.
Complete exaggeration with the Lichess example there. Also, comparing this to Hitler and religion is an obvious apples and oranges fallacy.
There is something you didn't get: people here in the forum are a vast minority of lichess users. Most lichess users are just chess players, lichess is just a platform to them, not a religion, and they don't waste time in a place like this.
Yes, most people don't go on forums. You don't have to either like I said before. Complete Zen mode helps focus for people who are more serious about chess, while others, like myself, who value social aspects too, stay here.
This was what I was talking about. You are free to leave at any point in time. Nobody is stopping you. If you choose to stay here, then anything other people say are mere natural consequences of your decision.
Also, I think very few adults are active in this forum.
Actually, there are quite a few I can rattle off the top of my head.
Do you like this place? Enjoy. I warned you. Online communities are all bad, and this one isn't an exception.
Lichess on a whole has been positive for me. Sorry that it wasn't for you, but complaining about it on a charity forum is just going to hurt your case.
I listened to you when you ranted in my DMs, because that was the correct time and place to talk about these sorts of things.
Here? No.
And in the future...please quit with the condescension. My age is none of your concern and should not influence how you talk to me, nor should it be made public. I expect it to be kept private, please and thank you.
