Yes and no, the licenses of the pieces are covered by different license types. I wish they were free available to use, but the licenses on a lot of the pieces are restrictive, I think only a a few are freely available without strings.
You can view the licenses here: https://github.com/lichess-org/lila/blob/master/COPYING.md

When I first started coding, I honestly didn’t think too hard about licenses — I just grabbed a bunch of piece sets and used them. Later on I realized most of them weren’t actually usable in a commercial project, so I had to rip them out. Spent a few late nights trying to wrap my head around license differences, and it was not pleasant .
GPL / AGPL / CC BY-NC-SA not usable for me. GPL/AGPL would force me to open-source my whole codebase, and CC BY-NC-SA flat out forbids commercial use. CC BY / CC BY-SA / Apache a bit more flexible, but they still require attribution or sharing under the same license, which doesn’t really work with my setup. MIT / CC0 these are the only ones that are truly safe for commercial use, no strings attached.
So in practice, that leaves me with just the MIT sets (fantasy, spatial, celtic) and the CC0 set (rhosgfx). Everything else I had to let go of, hence I started using a bit of AI and lots GIMP to generate my own.

If you have installed the plugins go to the Liachess Tools settings and search for Piece, and enable HollowLeaf in the settings, then when in you choose you or piece set, you just need to click on the + icon to expand and see more pieces
