Can You Master Chess Playing ONLY Lichess Puzzles? (The Human Engine Experiment)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been thinking about completely rethinking the traditional approach to chess improvement and training methodology.

What if someone trained exclusively using Lichess puzzle modes — Puzzle Storm, Puzzle Streak, Puzzle Race, standard puzzles, hunting for world records, and aiming for a 3000+ (or even the maximum 3999) puzzle rating — while completely ignoring traditional full games?

My ultimate goal with this idea is to "computerize" human calculation as much as possible: to train the brain to visualize and calculate 10+ moves ahead in roughly 10 seconds. The concept relies on combining high-intensity tactical repetition with blindfold chess training and a revised mindset toward engine analysis — using engine logic to systematically reprogram human intuition and vision rather than relying on it as a crutch.

I’d love to hear the community's thoughts on this:

Is it theoretically possible to build true chess mastery solely through puzzle modes, or will the total absence of positional play, opening theory, and real-game time management create an insurmountable ceiling?

Has anyone attempted a pure puzzle-only regimen for an extended period? If so, what happened when you finally stepped back into regular classical or blitz games?

Can extreme tactical speed-runs (Puzzle Storm/Race) combined with blindfold visualization actually train a human mind to approximate computer-like calculation speed?

Looking forward to your feedback, critiques, and personal experiences!

Teach a player to think 3 moves ahead, he will receive a 2000 rating.
Need to completely ignore mat puzzles in all modes. This is currently impossible to ensure.

How exactly did you obtain such a high puzzle rating?

What is relevant to the topic is that you very nearly certainly obtained those scores dishonestly, thus null-and-voiding the validity of the results of your little project.

I didn't understand anything from what you wrote.
But then I got an idea for training. Need to show the puzzle and at the same time highlight the cell where the very last piece will go on the very last move.
The player must find which moves will lead to this final move?

What is the point of a task if it’s clear from the start what it’s supposed to lead to?)

I have had points in which I have done only puzzles for a while, however, I believe it is easier to find tactics in puzzles in general because psychologically, one hunts more ardently for tactics, checkmates, et cetera, when one knows that they are there, as in puzzles.
