If you win + give a Rematch = fair attitude

What happened to a big part of the Lichess Community in the last few years?
I had a 2 year break from Chess. I come back and nearly no one offers a Rematch anymore.
At least if you win as white, isn't it self explaining fair to offer a rematch?
Many people don't care anymore. But did you know that on the other side of the board is also a human being.
I think we, as Lichess users, should support that unwritten rule, to offer a Rematch.
If you still do, congratulation. You are one of the very little % that didn't let you influence to much from this more and more ignorant turning world.
We have to support the o in LoL = Love outstanding Lichess

WTF um dude you might want to pull the stick out

Maybe the opponent thinks you are too weak for a rematch. Maybe the opponent thinks you are too strong and is scared.
Maybe the game was so stressful they had a bowel movement and need to change. Maybe their boss walked into the room. Maybe they just love to refuse so you'll never get the chance to beat them.
Nobody is obligated to accept a rematch, the universe is not about you.

@DrHotBunz maybe start here. If you use Dr in your name and write on a foreign platform, don't tell others WTF and Dude. You don't know how old I am or where I come from.
If you are defending your ingoreness, then participate it by not writing it here and ignore this message and those people who are more socially minded.

  • I still think Lichess was and still could be a Chess Site, where the community is a bit more Respectfull then in other Games like Rust or Fortnite.
But yes - also in Chess was a Time before the Pandemic and a big Change during and after the Pandemic.
As you don't know how Lichess was back then, you can't understand what I mean.

It's always good to remember that you have no idea of what another persons struggles/life look like.

Not everyone has the physical health to oblige you in this, for example...

Not everyone agrees what is respectful. I find it respectful not bother me with rematch request nor expecting me for ask for rematch. I am simply totally not interested in rematches as the new opponent button exists alongside little cross to close the browser tab.

@lizani Even superstar Grandmasters mentioned in their streams that on Lichess nearly no one give anymore a rematch.
Of course the kitchen could burn and you have to run. There are always some explaining. But from tonnes of games, it became very rare that people stay fair to give a rematch.
I think it has a different reason. Maybe many don't like that point when the rematch gets a bit more personal then the first game, because now you face that opponent you just lost to or won to. So the rematch is not that ignorant random name you just use to play and feel great when you win ones again.
A rematch is a tiny bit more personal because it has now a little history in it. The history of the first game.
Maybe it's this what ignorant people don't like. To feel that tiny feeling of not having a neutral game anymore when you rematch.

I almost never rematch, unless I've made some sort of connection with the stranger on the other side (e.g there has been some chat). Even then, maybe I just can't be arsed....
Who cares what super grandmasters think? No-one is obliged to rematch you. No-one owes you anything. And you have no idea what is going on on the other side. Whatever reason someone has for refusing a rematch, it is their business and not yours.

You have rudely called everyone who doesn't agree with you 'ignorant' in every post you have made and then you talk about 'community', 'fair' and understanding that your opponent is human. You need to learn to respect diversity of opinion and that yours is not always the 'correct' one.

We call it rematchosis, bad case. People think they can infect others with their rematch quirk. Probably a psychiatrist can help?

I hardly ever offer a rematch, and only accept one only sometimes. I don't own you anything, and you losing doesn't grant you any rights on another match. I've had many cases where my opponents asks for a rematch, only to let the timer for the first move time out.
