If you win + give a Rematch = fair attitude

I always accept rematch challenges after a victory. I figure If I beat them the first time, I'll beat them the second time even worse. I like the moment when I break a man's ego when I make him realize that he really does suck at chess.

Mostly, I think it's important to play against the same person multiple times, it's more effective in finding out where you are going wrong.
I don't see how a rematch would be more efficient for this purpose than a game analysis.

What happened to a big part of the Lichess Community in the last few years?
I had a 2 year break from Chess. I come back and nearly no one offers a Rematch anymore.
At least if you win as white, isn't it self explaining fair to offer a rematch?
Many people don't care anymore. But did you know that on the other side of the board is also a human being.
I think we, as Lichess users, should support that unwritten rule, to offer a Rematch.
If you still do, congratulation. You are one of the very little % that didn't let you influence to much from this more and more ignorant turning world.
We have to support the o in LoL = Love outstanding Lichess

The server is in France and not the US, so nobody will show up with their Glock to the game.

If you like rematches, just offer them. As easy as that. There is no big etiquette on who has to offer it, and there is no obligation for either player to engage with it.

In fact, if you just won (maybe pretty clear) and offer a rematch, it sort of stinks like you're farming them for rating (nothing wrong with that, but people could feel offended as well).

And that's a problem with things like this, what one finds good manners, another can find offending. Therefore the best policy IMHO consists of three points:

  1. It's everyone's right to offer a rematch or not to offer one for whatever reason or without any reason.
  2. It's everyone's right to accept or decline a rematch offer for whatever reason or witnout any reason.
  3. Nobody should question or criticize executing any of these rights or ask for a reason or an explanation.

The same points also apply to "takeback etiquette", and

  1. mods should do something about repeated posts about this topic and about "takeback etiquette".

I'd like a toggle to turn the rematch request off, in the same way take backs can be turned off.

I prefer not to do rematches because I want to play chess in general; not Donnie_Azoff-chess, or Hedgehog1963-chess

Regularly I offer or being offered rematch in correspondence chess, there you will find fair players, and real Sportsmanship. Just try.
