though i dont think one should be harassed for playing on or expected to resign when down on points. to be clear my question is not on tournaments/arena, and remember that lichess random play matches players on similar levels = (i see your other cmoments on percentegaes etc). I know my chances of cm are low, but i still have a chance of stalemate or winning by time, it's in the rules. and what i gather from everyone's coments, it's allowed.
Ok, if anything is within rules does it necessarily make such a thing not bad or completely unacceptable?
what if there's some legal blindspot that lets me burn down a persons home for no reason? Is that acceptable just because 'rules allow so its fine'
Try any other way to justify your behaviour. 'rules allow so its okay' is not a valid logic.

No. But it is a bad etiquette and mockery to not checkmate someone when you have mate in one and instead you promote to 4 knights. You are not a streamer, you are a virgin in your moms basement, and with this behavior you are just exposing yourself.

I won't keep playing if my opponent has a won game and can't possibly fail (a king and rook versus my king, for example). I will keep playing if I can force a stalemate OR force a three-fold repetition. I don't believe this to be dishonorable. Playing according to the rules might not be logical, but it isn't cheating. Chess is a game. It makes little sense, in many cases, to compare chess to life. Life is grossly unfair, but chess has rules and is often (barring cheating) a fair game. Sometimes, people cheat at chess, but in an OTB tournament, it can be very difficult to get away with cheating. I usually resign many moves ahead if I believe or know I have already lost the game. I don't like exercises of futility, but if I know I can force a draw, I will do so. I CAN think of one comparison to real life that makes sense--if a high-ranking officer commands his troops to hold a certain position to avoid devastating losses, this is acceptable. Maybe neither side will win, but, sometimes, losing isn't an option.
