Online chess is broken, I assume you’re cheating until you prove me wrong

@CG314 said ^

From what I've experienced in games and read in the forums, cheating is worse in the lower rated such as you and I are in. It is frustrating. Consider all the plusses and minuses of the site.

I don't actually believe its worse at the lower levels. Quite the contrary... If you were to cheat, you would quickly move up to the higher levels. It is PERCEIVED to be worse by people at the lower levels, who do not yet have enough understanding of chess to understand how little they actually know, or why they are loosing.

Indeed, when I play OTB coffee house chess, against people who "are good and can beat all of their friends" (but in reality are 1000 level players), I get confronted with all sorts of comments like "Why are your pieces always protected?", "Your lucky that this tactic (typically a fork or a back rank mate) appeared in the position", or "Why are none of my openings (typically very transparent garbage) working today?". In this environment, sitting in front of them, they cannot blame it on cheating, so they effectively pass it off as an unlucky day or similar... Online, these same questions escalate to assumptions of cheating.

I'll consider my margin of total games on the site when compared to yours, 4 to 1, as sufficient to comment on the topic.

On this site, the thumbs down emoji is more of a pessimistic critic tool, sure it means you don't agree, but it's wiser to remain silent. Now I see them more like don't read this post and you point down to see the next post. I hope those that use the thumbs down understand that there are better ways to be helpful.

Too much effort is put into my post to deserve any thumbs down. It's just a rude gesture. Proves how rude you can be without words. You feel safer that way. Enough said about that point.

Now here's my continuation reference the browser link: Chess Risk Score

You can even embed the chess risk score during the game. It's not exactly found in a players profile, you still have to start a game with a player before knowing. But if you look at their prior games there you will see the risk factor of both players. I think new accounts with few games the risk factor will probably always be high.

If you click on your own name during a game, you will see your score too. Helps to see how others see you. My score is very low compared to this opponent, but this player is new to the site. Even seeing a high score, it still does not mean they used assistance. I'm the one that blundered the queen. So I broke the chess game by resigning. This player played well.

Ok, but strange... Everyone is free to comment on any topic in an open form. I have no idea why total games, or any other criteria would need to be "sufficient".

Disagreement always feels rude. Nobody cares how much 'effort' you put if they don't like what you said. If you think you don't 'deserve' dislikes, social media is a better place. We are here to discuss chess so please don't shout for getting likes instead of dislikes.

it definitely is broken to some extent, a lot of peoples online rating is very questionable, OTB is really the only way to play, I have a friend who plays online as well, he is 300 points higher than me and maintains that gap, yet when I play him, OTB or online, I have a winning record with a pretty substantial margin, also I've played people who also have much higher rating, played them even online, yet I mostly win and they dont outplay me as their rating is mostly 300-400 points higher, Im talking about the same 5 or 3 blitz time control. so there is definitely something fishy going on with the ratings, same is the fact that say 1300-1400 players play much more loosely and blunder more than say 1200-1300, and that is also true probably thru some other ranges as well, Im not saying they are cheating but the online stuff is very bizarre indeed

We are not your senior schoolmates.

Did I even mention that I am talking about lichess OTFr's?

Yes. By mentioning them in your reply you are talking about them. Stop running away from my real question which says why you brought the rating topic
