Scholars around the world generally agree in their scholarly publications that Buddha was definitely on to something here.
In some mythologies, it is said that Lucifer (or equivalent figure in the mythology) himself slashed the universe again and again, first one way and then perpendicular. The result was none other than the Devil's Crosshash, or in today's terms, a Chess-board, wherein great celestial bodies such as stars are represented by the various chess-pieces.
Remember that the Ouija board, a Luciferian technology reviled by the Church, is none other than yet another Board Game such as chess. So, In some orthodox traditions, Chess is considered forbidden art that summons the devil's minions, just like Ouija

Buddha hated any board game with 8 or 10 rows.
It was alright though. Later on he came to realize that he both hated and not-hated them.

Didn't Buddha say something like existence is desire ,so chess only gives you the desired result when you win xxx so it would not be in line with his teaching of that when you have to lose so can much ha ha xxx peace up everyone xxx

I have a thai family, they believe in Buddhism, but they also playing card games with me, playing with dices and on many tables outside you can find squares for playing checkers with the neighbors. No problem.
They only have a problem with gambling for money.

Truly it is a shame how the great religions of the world have all come to the same conclusion, despite their disagreement on every other issue: that Chess is a dangerous, demonic game that is the creation of the Lucifer himself

@ibrahimmoiZOOS those are only a few bizarre sects of Buddhism, such as "pure land," that invent "gods" or creatures greater than humans. true Buddhism has no such supernatural beings, but limits itself to humanity and the struggle for contentment.
the only exception is that upon reaching "enlightenment" a person sort of disappears into a state of non-being that we cannot sense or understand. or, a "boddhisattva" who is capable of reaching enlightenment, but decides to remain on earth in our existence in order to help others.
there is no Lucifer in regular Buddhism.

As it says right on that page, the 8x8 game that Buddha refused to play was likely not the primitive chess Chaturanji, but a dice/race game.

@asdawdaw2 We seemed to have strayed from talking about chess.
However, I will respond to your confusing comment. There was a person, Siddhartha Gautama, who lived in northern India about 3000 years ago. People called him "Buddha" which means something like 'the wise one' or 'the enlightened one.' Whether the title was correct or not, that is a matter of opinion.
This Siddhartha guy did concentrate his life on understanding human suffering and how to relieve or reduce suffering. He had 'disciples' who followed him around, and tried to write down is teaching.
You are free to believe what you want, but that much is true.
Siddhartha was a real person, like Jesus and Muhammad. Whether the teachings that have been created around those figures are 'true' or 'fake' is a matter of opinion.
