By that logic, one could even say all the World Champions from now on don't deserve to be.
In my opinion, Paul Morphy is (was) the most overrated Chess World Champion. He made scary looking moves that were good but not objectively the best (although he also played some brilliant (IMO) sacrifices). These moves worked because his opponents did not know how to respond to this style...
Morphy was never a World Champion so he can't be the most overrated World Champion.
Morphy wasn't a FIDE World Champion, but the OP didn't specify the choice had to be one, as far as I know. Morphy was practically the undisputed 'champion of chess' of his time (during which FIDE did not exist).
Yeah I agree
Lasker
He Is So Overrated don’t look at all that years as WC
That makes him the most overrated cuz he had a much easier era
His Competitors were strong - 2400 - 2520 Max
Lasker Was Prob Maybe 2550
( Ratings Weren’t Introduced Yet )
I don’t know why so many people like him
ding is bad

Ding Liren and Gukesh never deserved the world championship title.
As you know, magnus carlsen was a world champion for a decade, unbeaten.
But after a decade, he had gave up his title and Ding liren played against ian or else ian would have played magnus and ding liren would never get his title. After the series of matches, ding liren won, but if you made ding...
In my opinion Ding still better world champion than Gukesh, cause Ding beat Nepo, who came back after playing Magnus, Nepo was pretty good still at that point, Gukesh fluked through Candidates to play deteriorating Ding who was mostly inactive the whole year before the WC match, yet still Ding gave a fair fight and if not for that fatal blunder, no one knows what would've happened in the rapid tie breaks, so inevitably Gukesh is the outlier and the weakest WC there has ever been

People saying Lasker and all these dudes in early 20th century, cannot be real, if anyrhing none of those guys were the weakest, cause there was no engines no prior games to analyze nothing, these dudes were sitting through positions on their own, sure they had games to analyze, but this was all noted god knows how etc, you guys are delusional saying the pioneers of the game were the weakest, really shows the ignorance of modern game
