Can we stop the threatening messages?

I just lost this game as Black:

https://lichess.org/gZES3YqG/black

It was a 3+2 blitz game and in the last before the last move, I spent almost a minute thinking on how to avoid a checkmate (which I failed to do). After I moved, my opponed moved and I had about 5 seconds left to move, which I didn't because I was facing the same dilemma again.

After the game ended, I received a threatening message from Lichess "reminding" me that if I keep wasting time, I risk to be banned.

I believe this is a bug, or rather, a programming logic mistake. You can't threaten people just for taking a longer time (just one minute!!!) to think about a position. I would understand if I just stopped moving till the end, or if the next move was very obvious or if I had a lot of easy move options, but that was not the case, at least from my low level point of view. And still, I got that "friendly" reminder asking me to not spend too much time thinking in a freaking CHESS game.

Can you please fix the algorithm?

Thanks.

i mean its pretty clear that you have no counter play in that position, nothing that would warrant a full minute trying to find any

35...Qe3+ was a forced draw, but I didn't see it because of the time pressure.

But that's not the point. Even if I didn't have a counterplay (which I had), I still should have the right to try finding it, instead of being forced to make any random move for not "wasting time", shouldn't I? And yet it wasn't even the last move. I didn't let the clock to run out until the end. I moved (semi-randomly, but still moved).

I took a minute after 34 moves in a 3+2 blitz game. It's not that I took a minute, or 50 seconds, in a 1+0 bullet game after the second move...

After move 35 of white the position is equal. Black uses his time (57 seconds) to find the next move. He has 7 seconds left.

Imho this should not trigger a reminder / warning.

You are a 2200 rated player, your “pretty clear” may not be that clear for a 1600-1700 rated player. For example, white can try the 1...Ne7 2.Rxe7 c5 defense, trying some miracle with the queen, a 1600 game oftenly have turning tables. The problem is that if we go a little deeper, we realize it doesn’t even prevent Qxb7, the pawn endgame is also lost. I think many players would need more than a minute to find out and calculate this desperate line.

It’s hard to find the balance though, it’s pretty anoying when the stubborn opponent let the clock run.

ne7 rxe7 c5 just loses to qxb7#

Once again I support regular users not wanting this type of hard words in messages.

Not everyone is a fast-time-settings genius like Hikaru.

Those who believe that you must be so heavy handed in messages to cater for the annoying fraction of annoying users don't have my vote. In this era of AI-assisted everything, I am sure Lichess should at least strive to do better.

I think I agree with #1 but I need to find some solution which also covers the case of a player intentionally wasting time. In this case Black could have drawn but they spent their time and unfortunately didn't see the drawing variations.
