I got the feeling that some days there are more cheaters than other days. I'm talking about players with 98% accuracy using less than 3 seconds per move, unrealistic games, switching over to Stockfish in difficult and losing positions lasting 15 moves ending with trapping my queen, etc.
What is your experience? Do cheaters come in waves? Does it matter which time of the day? Are some days worse than others?

I don't know about cheaters, but posts about the topic of cheating seem to come in tsunamis.

Some days I feel like more of my opponents are cheating, but then again it quite possibly is just because I'm not in good form then, and so I make it too easy for them to win with high accuracy. I couldn't say for sure.

Yes, they do.
Sadly, the way to avoid most of them is to play 3+0 or less.

Yes, they do.
Cheaters can easily play fast time controls.

I'm seeing a cheating wave these days again yes. All >5 min games acl is under 20 for the majority of games.
Bigger question is what are the numbers for users that report that are muted/shadowbanned for reporting by mods. Shady behavior.

There are waves of strong players indeed, but it does not seem like cheating, they make human moves and do blunders. Could be players that rarely play, or maybe alternate accounts.
But I feel you, it feels frustrating, I've lost today twice being a queen up :)

5% of my games (all 15+10) I have the feeling, my opponent is playing fast and far beyond my rating. But if I look at his stats, I always find a reasonable win / loss ratio. So I tend to not care.
And what is the problem with losing to a machine anyway? It won't effect my rating on the long run.

Activity rises and falls throughout the 24-hour day as different generations of players come online and others log off.
It’s much like rush hour on the roads or busy periods in stores. Online chess has its own traffic patterns.

Online chess activity can rise and fall without necessarily changing the strength of the players online. The number of players and the composition of the player pool are two different things.

By observing when different groups of players are active, you can identify the periods that best suit your playing style.
