Lichess wants you to keep your account safe because your account is special. It's much safer to have 2 factor authentication so every once in a while, it will ask you to enable it to protect you.

If you're so annoyed and you keep refusing 2fa, you shouldn't be a team or class leader

I've heard several stories of minors carelessly giving away their passwords here ...

So... you're salty about a prompt to enable 2FA, meanwhile accounts with special perms are literally required to have 2FA, or they get locked out of their features.

Sorry that it has been a nuisance. Fortunately there is a way to make it stop.
Just head to https://lichess.org/account/twofactor and setup 2FA.

Can you specify what "special perms" means ?

Admins, Devs, Moderators, Broadcasters, Content team

2FA certification is only possible if you have a mobile phone and requires the download of an app.

What about people who don't have a mobile phone ?

There are some password managers for PC that support 2FA, but you’ll need to be careful not to lose access to your PC.
