Small Animation Change at the end of the game.

"Speed recognition of completion status at a glance"

I'm sorry what kind of bending over backwards logic is this? Give me a genuine scenario where it is not possible to tell that the game is over.

Like any mechanic, which we already have, whether it is auto promotion, viewing validity of moves, moves in advance, the clock; the Bare Minimum expectation of implementing a change that makes the interface anything more than a chessboard with pieces is that it has to be an option.

Enshittification, this is ridic.

Annotations were added that obstruct nothing and may help newer players or speed recognition of completion status at a glance.

If this annoys you, configure yourself to not be annoyed.

"obstruere"; to obstruct, to block, to impede, to build before. Perhaps when you say "...annotations that obstruct nothing..." you truly mean: nothing other than the squares of the kings in the final position. All for something which: 'may help' certain others.

Your message distills to: if you don't like the changes, stay silent. Forgive me friend, for going to the forums, to the lichess feedback section, and commenting in the appropriate thread about a striking visual change to the final position of every single game played, from a recent mandatory site update, expressing how it appears to me, a player of this site.

up next! martin from chess dot com analyses your moves with stockfish and gives you gentle words of encouragement because apparently new players are daft babies we must coddle.

Your message distills to: if you don't like the changes, stay silent.

Maybe it read that way, but I don't want anyone to be silent. My intended distillation was "you'll get used to it"

I'm sorry what kind of bending over backwards logic is this?

Sometimes a user cannot see the move list due to device form factor or presentation mode (streaming, chrome casting, etc).

So I did not give backwards logic. It's real justification for a non-optional new feature that is not aimed at you. Beginners may not have your ability to immediately assess how the game ended from the board state.

and beginners can therefore go enable a support feature intended to support beginners? How is the board's end state this critical that somehow must be conveyed in a flash? What is this complicated end state you are even discussing, what are the possible end outcomes in chess? How watered down a lowest-common denominator are you possible trying to convince anyone that this is useful for to this massive degree that it needs to be non-optional?

How are you possibly in good-faith defending the non-optional element of this?

Chessboard. Pieces. Everything else Should be something that can be defined by the user.

Anything else is enshittification. And I've said chess dot com with every reply, but this is chess dot com behaviour.
Action bias, and gross.

I am conveying the justification. Upset users deserve to hear it.
