Small Animation Change at the end of the game.

How are you possibly in good-faith defending the non-optional element of this?

I am conveying the justification. Upset users deserve to hear it.

yeah sure, "get used to it", "change your own configuration if you are upset."

you haven't conveyed anything about why it can't be stuck behind a preference - i have no idea what you are contributing here. at least i'm getting to vent.

This is like forcing Tour de France competitors to use side wheels.

Of course, I've blocked the icons immediately but this also removes them from the analysis board.
Does anyone know how to hide the custom svgs selectively?

How can we block the icons? Would be interested in learning how to do that.

If you are using a browser and the Stylus or a similar extension, then

.cg-custom-svgs { display: none; }

For the uBlock Origin extension, the filter is lichess.org##.cg-custom-svgs

But this hides all icons, also the ones used in the analysis board.

I've found more precise selectors (6 of 8) but they are hashes. I'm not sure if they are constant.

.cg-custom-svgs {
g[cgHash*="1774277005"],
g[cgHash*="2604891415"],
g[cgHash*="4143857023"],
g[cgHash*="2647683087"],
g[cgHash*="1899402066"],
g[cgHash*="3423973410"]
{ display: none; }
}

For phones, I don't know. Maybe they'll think it over and make this innovation optional.

Those are numeric hashes of the icon content so you can treat them as "constant". 407266252 and 2737945961 are the other two.

Aarrgh. There were already three other 'threads' complaining about this new irritating feature. Mine may be the first one. Whatever. Get used to it is not an answer. No way to fix it is not an answer. Helps new players is not an answer. Only real answer is get rid of it.
That kind of bells & whistles, ".com" trash destroys the simplicity of the game, destroys the figure it out for yourself which is a critical part of understanding checkmate, which is a critical part of understanding chess. When new players at the club look at a position and ask "is that mate?" and then carefully see that yes it is, can't capture, can't move, can't block, that is the moment when they are learning the game. If someone yells it out to you with a silly pop-up, it ruins insightful moment.

as uBlock-filter:

lichess.org##.cg-custom-svgs:has( g > g:is( [cgHash*="1774277005"], [cgHash*="2604891415"], [cgHash*="4143857023"], [cgHash*="2647683087"], [cgHash*="1899402066"], [cgHash*="3423973410"], [cgHash*="407266252"], [cgHash*="2737945961"] ))

works for me with uBlock origin on desktop (librewolf) and mobile (fennec).
