Was I cheating?

I have asked to AI if is legal to use the databases of seven of less pieces to claim thw draw or the victory in mail matches. The AI says me that this is legal. Then I asked to AI on what Internet site I could insert a position with 7 pieces or less to know what kind of position is and it answered also Lichess. So I have put to lichess in edit chessboard a position of one match that I was playng with 7 pieces. I thought this was legal because consulting a database. But then Lichess said I was cheating and gave me the defeat. Is a bug or I was cheating?

You are not allowed to use endgame tablebases in correspondence games. AI was just flat out wrong.

As a tip, always use the analysis button in the correspondence game for checking explorer...

Ok but where can I find the rules for correspondence games? And this rule is just for Lichess site or also in all the world?

On the other hand is a Lichess site page. Can anyone please give me a link to the correspondence rules valid not in Lichess but in all the world?

there are several rules for corresponces. some of them allow engines some them do not allow engines. ICCF allows which resulted pure computer competition where wins happen when someone dies during the game.

Petri999 the engames table are not engines, Are databases. It is a total different thing.

What petri meant is that there's no universal law for correspondence chess. Every platform has its own rules.

Deadban this is very sad. In any case what I have understood is that AI wasn't just flat wrong as someone said. Probably has just found a federation ( that is something more than just a platform) that said that consulting the endgame tablebases is not only legal but also that you can claim victory or draw using them. For me, endgame tablebases are simply an extension of theoretical draw positions or won endgames. So I don't think is an unfair way to play. Now I know that in lichess is not permitted.

AI is far from being a foolproof reliable source.

By your words it's also not clear if you asked AI on how it is on Lichess specifically.

Blame yourself ...
