Yeah, that ain't how this works.

Forums are for group discussions. Every time you kids make a thread about "OMG kindpanda eats bamboo!" or spam a bunch vapid responses like "frfr" or "what?", it bumps to the very top. It makes the forums harder to navigate, it blows up interesting threads, and people stop wanting to use the forums because they know a bunch of 12 year olds are going to turn any conversation into a shitshow. This isn't me just guessing. I've seen this happen a number of times. Why do you think people are always talking about how the forums used to be better here?

The forums are NOT for a couple of people to annoy everyone else by hijacking it for personal conversations. There is literally a feature for personal messages. I don't want to see your personal conversations, and I doubt you want clousems to be involved in your personal conversations.

I got infected with thumbdowninitis frfr

Yeah, but think of it this way: getting downvoted by someone who disagrees with the idea that a forum is a forum is basically an upvote.

Guys please stop fighting. You cannot stop something you don't like by arguing to the OP. It creates even more spice. Yes, my posts today were quite sarcastic and and sharp too, but I did not expect that it would turn into a snowball. Also, if the spammer wants to spam, let it be. Here, clousems is absolutely correct but I would recommend them to not burn so much energy on things they cannot change. It is tragic what forums have become, but they are not a part of our life. At the end, it depends on maturity. There may be some kid who is 10 years old and speaks a lot vs a kid who is very composed of himself. Speaking of myself, my language may sound very formal but I'm around their age too. Behavior is important so please maintain peace in the forum. Deal?

Why you spamming my username now!?

I was not spamming your username.
Spamming is best thought of as the sending of unwanted communication. The reason that this sort of thread is spam is that it's essentially using the forum as a mass email list, but the conversation is not designed for everyone in the forum. It is designed as a PM, or perhaps a team message. (I also only made one mention of your username, so I don't think any definition of spam as a verb is accurate).

The reason I mentioned your username is because I'm addressing an observation that I've made (and one many others have made as well). A good deal of the recent influx of spam involves people saying things like the example I provided (this thread included). I intentionally didn't tag you for that reason.

Also, since I am a little worried about where this is likely headed:
My goal here is not to bully anyone, which is why I've been providing my recommendations on how to have these "conversations" you want to have in a way that doesn't ruin the site for others. I don't want this to turn into a flame war. Like you, I just want to enjoy this site-- and that is much easier without the spam. Please don't take the approach of "the mean grown-up is bullying me! I'm going to downvote him and spam even more, because it will be funny". That approach never works. It usually leads to a massive flame war, which annoys everyone else, then ends with people getting banned.

You know I didn't make this thread, he made this thread because of a comment in another thread, I can't stop anyone mentioning about me on threads yk it, one and only thing I can do is replying

K but you're getting so mean about this thing

Huh I see, the only one getting mentioned is me, not even op , what kinda thing that is?

Again-- there's a reason I didn't tag you. I'm aware of the fact that you didn't make the thread. What I wrote wasn't meant as an attack on you; it was made as a common example of spam these days. You know better than anyone that you've been name-checked in a bunch of spam. That doesn't necessarily mean that you are the source of all spam.

Please keep in mind that I am trying not to be mean. I was young once, too, and I do appreciate the enthusiasm the kids here have for chess and for trying to be pleasant. At the same time, though, it's difficult for adults to stay pleasant while children are crowding out most of the conversation here and using the "we aren't bothering anyone" or the "well you don't have to read our posts" excuses, then getting offended when anyone disagrees. Part of the beauty of using a team-- you don't bother anyone, nobody else reads your posts, and clousems (and others) won't be aggravated; plus, you can say whatever you want.

To answer your last question candidly, I wouldn't say that you're the top offender, but I have noticed that you tend to make a bunch of response posts that don't add anything to conversations. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself "what will others think when they read my post?" At the same time, I also don't see you creating this kind of shitpost thread that we're conversing in, so that's good.
