Metallica - Enter Sandman Moscow 1991

Makes me sad, seeing this historic celebration of freedom, peace and democracy now, in this very different day and age...even those Russian soldiers and policemen were throwing away their uniforms and partying along! Oh shit, how times have changed since then :-(

It is hard to imagine that such performances by artists from hostile countries will be repeated in the USSR in the coming years. Instead, young people there will likely have to content themselves with Russian folklore for the foreseeable future.

It's sadly looking that way...there were even some American flags in that unbelievably massive crowd (entry was free, btw)! And they were waving them, not burning them.

You can't even imagine how the audience felt. For many years there was an Iron Curtain in the country, when nothing was allowed. And then it turned out that anything is possible! Metallica, prodigy, this is not just a concert of your favorite artists, it is the freedom to watch the artists. Now I am writing these words, but I cannot watch the video, it is prohibited.

"For many years there was an Iron Curtain in the country, when nothing was allowed. "

Ah. The splendors of Socialism, recalled.

A ruling elite who "knows better" than the individual and begins to make more and more rules "for the good of all."

It's hard to believe many will be voting to promote such a future in the long run, and don't even realize it.

And before somebody decides to take me down a peg, they should recall what the initials USSR stood for.

Wheeeeee. The meanest and most egocentric and most controlling get to make the rules. What a brilliant future.

The previous post garnered a negative emoji within SECONDS! You can't make that up!

EDIT: Adding them all in later made no difference to the revelation. It merely confirmed it.

Notice which shade of politics tends to pull stunts. Experiments can happen in many walks of life.

And before somebody decides to take me do...

censorship is an aspect of authoritarianism not socialism/capitalism - hence why when it comes to censorship; the trump admin has more in common with china by banning multiple news agencies from the white house - than it does with democratic socialist countries like scandanvian countries.
