Smoking should be banned worldwide.

@Shadow1414 That's true, but smokers also impact their family's health, for example if one smokes in front of children the children's lungs are going to be affected.

@Mopman Yes. There will probably be a black market of cigarettes everywhere as a result.

People should be allowed to smoke, as it’s their body they are hurting; not others.

I believe that instead of banning smoking, people should spent that time, effort, and money to spread the truth about smoking, so that people know exactly what they are in for before deciding rather they want to smoke or not - the risks, the probability of the risks, etc.

In some countries there are already such „campaign“. They put some messages in the box showing some effects of smoking! Did it help? Imho NO.

#12: “Help” in what?

Make people aware of the consequences of smoking?

Stop people from smoking?

Something else?

Yeah, very sad indeed.

"One of the main arguments for the continuance of tobacco sales is that the government should not dictate what vices the public engages in. Alcohol and gambling are restricted but not prohibited."

Governments enjoy the tax revenue that come from tobacco sales. There are so many businesses, both big and small that make their income off tobacco and cigarette sales and their production. Plus, there is a huge percentage of people in the world that smoke.

Smoking is a choice. People need to understand the consequences and risks and abstain from it by making a conscience choice themselves. So, the way I see it , "Smoking cannot be banned, but awareness of its' immense ill-effects can be spread."

yes, another reason is that you can not just ban smoking, some people are now addicted and it is there life choice. although smoking is bad, I say this.

They ignore it! They cover the boxes!

Stop people from smoking?

Smoking is an addiction. It is not easy to stop. And (i am not sure about the numbers) it looks like that they increased the number of smokers

Something else?

Something in positive way in the direction of health? See the comment about stopping.

The only that maybe helped, to sell? Here i would be wrong... in this point maybe yes.

SAD!

@Shadow1414 actually it also affects the life of various people around them through numerous ways:-
A.) If you are around the smoker, you will be inhaling the air full of fumes affecting your alveolar sacs...
B.) Even if you aren't around em' they are toxicanting the atmosphere severely by releasing Co2,methane and other gases....
C.) They may cause psychological havoc to others or may increase their practice of domestic abuse....
Gotta agree with your second point though, awareness about this issue should be spread on large scale through effective ways....
@magicsacrifblunder the ways in which campaigns are undertaken should be changed...we should adopt more revolutionary ways... Some revolutionary sucessful campaigns have been held and we should aim for more...

Banning things like narcotics and prostitution in history has never worked. It just forces the market underground, where it is unregulated and a greater danger to society in general.

OP, you should do a bit more research before you start your crusade. Then you'd find that they once had the death penalty for smoking tobacco! (in Egypt); those who weren't executed though went right on smoking.
