I am a smoker and let me share here why this is all very funny and sounds like nothing but hypocrisy:
-
Tobacco and cigarettes can be produced by giants like Philip Morris, British Tobacco, J&T etc. You cannot unite to close them down so you just think you can cut off the customer from the product. That is so funny. It is so darn simple. I am not saying it is easy, I am saying it is not complicated. Ban this line of production. Ooooh. That now requires a lot of courage. Clint Eastwood lookalike squinting from on a horse with his Marlboro sticks at the bottom half of a Newsweek all along the 1990s, only to have its Marlboro screaming death from the carton in the 2000s.

Thinking "free market economy" was something good, and that it existed, people let states diminish and lend almost all the production to companies, corporations. They then reorganized whole states to become their puppets, this was more than a century ago. You got your FED, you lose the gold standard, you forge UN before some well timed war to enforce dollar as currency on the back of oil that's not even in your continent let alone in your territory. Love it. Then the whole world gets indebted, you first and foremost but guess what, someone has the a-bomb, what are you gonna do. States are on a pay roll, they depend on companies.
-
Exhausts from automobiles, factories, industries. Nothing you can do, nope. So now you have to talk about the methane from a cow's bum polluting the air so that you can ease people into losing the right to protein rich, pill free, organic diet, pushing lab grown "meat" down their throats.
-
Deforestation. The world's lungs are being chopped down everyday. Corals are being destroyed, forests in micronesia getting replaced by palm industry trees, but still, don't forget the poor cow that you used to lock down in a 2 m^2 confined space for decades to have your profit.
-
Bees getting killed by all these telecom wifi boxes whatever they are called.

Oh. Let's not forget the fact check sites breeding like fungus everywhere to tell you what is false and what is verified. Convenient as hell. The lazier people get, the more effective these sites become. The about page of a website is very imortant. The about pages of five seemingly independent companies producing similar reports are very important. No one has the time to verify resources, absence of conflicts of interest but sometimes you can get actually suspicious enough to check it out and see to your chagrin that you were correct. Bad hormones kill faster. Winning either way, hooray for the bosses.
I mean if you really care about health in that cozy altruism... You're gonna have to do more than this. See that's what makes all these types of forums suck...
Guts. When people do not have guts and face the music, all they can do is project their rage on who they think they can defeat. I am sure the gas from your car agrees with that. Now let's get back to being the kings of our desolate mental lands.

Drugs, alcohol and smoking. All of 'em should be banned.
But it won't happen.

@clousems smoking cigarette is banned in public places....the smokers are supposed to do it lonely where no one is lingering...just the implementation is weak, extremely weak....
That's probably a local/national thing. Different places have different policies, which is why I spoke in generalities.

Actually why is it originally allowed if it's dangerous for our sanity? The sanity of the smoker and also the sanity of who's nearby breathing the same polluted air. And why a majority of people smoke if they know it's dangerous for them?
Please, I hate when I go in a place and there's a smoker waiting there for me to get next to him and breath his own dirty oxygen, so please let's disallow this crime to happen more, and let's disallow smoking with classical and electrical smokes.

How about to price a cigarette ~ 20 dollars, and from this put 19.8 in the care system? Win win for all. Lol
The drug industry is that they dont care bout cost so if you price a pack 20 dollars they would still buy it, or change to other places

I know it it, and i am putting the price of an individual cigarette, not a pack. but at least let us say 98% is going to the care system, and the rest is the profit to the gov and the tobacco industry... ;) a win win

#1 totally agree with you on the fact that smoking is indeed very bad, but like in #4, it's probably never going to happen; and honestly we cant stop people from smoking if they really really want to, and even if we do ban cigarettes, someones probably gonna make them illegally and sell them illegally sooooo...

Researchers find that smoking bans can reduce the number of heart attacks by as much as 26 percent per year. ... The cardiac benefits increased with longer ban duration.” According to projections by the authors, a nationwide ban on public smoking could prevent as many as 154,000 heart attacks each year.
Just agree with you they should fine 5000 or give jail for a month
