What Would You Do if You Were In A Zombie Apocalypse?

What would you do if you were in a zombie apocalypse? How would you find food? How would you find water? And how would you escape past the bajillion zombies near you?

(I think @RAybonto knows the answer, he likes movies so he should know)

In such a scenario, I do not recommend using tap water, or worse, river water. An adventurer should prioritize fruits or vegetables rich in water, such as watermelons, melons, cacti, oranges, cucumber or coconuts (depending on the region and season). The reason is that zombies can contaminate the water from distribution network, but also the water of small rivers. Desalinated seawater is also an option, provided a safe system is used. Making juice out of the fruits and vegetables is the safer option. Cow milk is risky in this scenario, since the cows can get zombified, but also, in the case of absence of pasteurization process.

Regarding food, no hunting, as wild animals may also be contaminated. Fish from the sea are safer, unless the area is polluted with chemicals or heavy metals. Recommend to fish far from the coast. Avoid sea fruits and shellfish, as they are the most susceptible to contamination by heavy metals.

As for daily production, if you are building a base, keeping chickens in a secure area is a good idea for eggs. At the conditions to keep an eye to avoid any potential contamination from zombies. But of course, by guaranting a safe, respecting area to raise the chickens, with the right food, with house and space.

To escape zombies, the best plan is to use the terrain to your advantage and avoid cities or urban areas that could become hotspots. Mountain regions can be excellent locations because they are difficult for a zombie horde to access and, (especially if the zombies possess hive-mind intelligence) , offer them little potential value for them to access. Coastal areas can be good spots, provided you have a boat (preferably a sailboat). Islands aren't ideal locations, as they can quickly turn into dangerous hotspots at the slightest sign of contamination. The best is that the adventurer/s should remain mobile and self-sufficient, avoiding direct confrontation with zombies whenever it have no purpose. In group, the best is to build a strong team and working spirit, to listen to everyone's opinions and to not fall in panic, but on the contrary, to have a strong confidence in each others.

Yes, I know it may not be glamorous for Hollywood, but it is the most logical tactic, how much unlikely a zombie apocalypse might be))

You must cooperate for food.

Destroying zombies should be done passively.

A sturdy grid in a V-shape.
Lure in a lot of zombies
from the top.

Later arriving zombies force
earlier through the grid.

Go in the middle of the road and scream: "I play chess on chess.com!"

No zombies would want to go near to such an idiot :)

I’d probably think I was at a Rolling Stones concert.

Good question. To no small extent, I blame The Night of the Living Dead, and George Romero who created the modern zed. It was Romero who first changed the zombie from a mindless victim into a flesh-eating monster. And who later added the survival in the face apocalypse /social commentary aspect in Dawn o the Dead. Those two changes gave Hollywood a guaranteed meal ticket: monsters that can never be truly vanquished for good, and a platform for whatever social stereotype might prove popular at the time of production. Personally, I thought the zed franchise had just about ran out it's useful course by the time Walking Dead hit it's third season on TV, but what do I know. Hollywood is big business, and like any big business it can be trusted to hang onto a meal ticket as long as possible.
