The way many people speak nowadays, i find very annoying and it fills me with a sense of vicarious cringe, as there seems to be a false excitement in their tone over mundane everyday comments, you might say to someone in passing, "nice weather this morning", and they reply " YEAH DEFINITELY ! ", as if at some point between making the original comment and them replying there was a moment of extreme doubt about the weather being nice or not, it gives me the impression that they're not really in the moment but simply giving a bs reflex answer to everybody with an excited tone, like, you might tell them that their ass is on fire, and they'll reply "YEAH DEFINITELY! "
Another thing that annoys me is vocal fry, when people talk like that kid from the movie
" The Shining ", when he keeps saying " Red rum", it comes across like they are trying to give the impression that they don't give a rats or they're simply just too good to be talking to you etc.
What do you guys think about all this.

@Mrchess78 I could be way off base, but I think people believe that responding to a comment about the weather is beneath them. A lot of people have become the most selfish, arrogant people I have ever seen. People often expect to be impressed, as if they have some God-given right to it. They feel that they are superior and deserve a superior quote, conversation, etc. Well, I don't need to tell such people where they can stick their attitudes...

I agree, then there's those type who fancy themselves intelligent and keep using the word 'like' before like saying something frightfully like witty, and there's usually a whole group of these berks chatting together in their little cliques who all seem to talk this same way. :D

Full disclosure, Boomer here. Another one of my mild peeves: when asked, they respond with “Yeah, so...” like I should prepare myself for their most insightful thoughts. Next: after we say “thank you” to a customer service associate and they reply with “ Yeah, no problem.” Jeeze-o-Pete... or they just say....”Yep.”

I'm glad you mention the, "Yeah, no problem" Phrase that alot of people say, because it kind of implies that in fact it usually is a problem, but they're begrudgingly choosing for it not to be a problem this time around!. :D
