Cheating through the roof

@Ghost-Raven said ^

it is what it is, just resign the fishy games, let the cheaters have their points, it changes nothing in grand scheme of things, it is however spiked a lot in last month, the overall level of fishyness has definitely went up, put there is nothing against it

I thought it was just me. So many opponents that have played hundreds of games over multiple years, yet they still have a provisional rating? Why do the moderators allow this?

Why are you surprised they're provisional? Check out their activity and rating deviations. If you're inactive for very long time in a certain category, you'll be provisional in that category again.

I’m not sure what you mean. These are people that are playing huge numbers of games, on teams, in tournaments, yet their rating is, oh, maybe it’s 1650 or whatever. These people are not ‘inactive’ in any way. Total BS

It had a rather obnoxious username.

An inappropriate username is enough to get an account banned (or is it closed? I don't recall).

True...I thought the name was obnoxious but not inappropriate enough to get banned just for that, but maybe it was...or maybe it played a role. They don't tell us exactly why the person was banned, just that they were.

I really dont care about cheaters since I play for fun/love not money.
The pleasure in chess, like many activities, is feeling your skill and understanding grow.
There is little pleasure in higher performance compared to growing skill and understanding.
Cheating robs you of skill so also of the pleasure of chess.

IMO at least -- Bill

Cheaters simply cheat themselves in the grand scheme of things. They are simply too myopic to appreciate that.

If they have a provisional rating it means their rating deviation is over 110, which means the player plays that variant sporadically. You mentioned "hundreds of games over multiple years", that might be the reason. You have to play frequently to keep your rating stable, it's only logical.

you point is not valid simply from the sheer amount of games you've played, which are very little

You have played 1881 games, lonelypeanut has played 1273 games. How's that very little compared to you?

For comparison, blehblehblehx has played 530 games in a month, according to you that's definitely invalid.

Moreover, if cheaters were that frequent as you and OP claim 1273 games would be more than enough to meet multiple cheaters.

Cheaters are making me play the Hippopotamus!

And they cause me to mouse slip!

And last Friday evening, the cheaters slipped me a third adult beverage WHILE I WAS PLAYING!

And one of them messed up the trailer, too! And scattered Cheerios all over the nice orange shag carpeting, which I had just installed in honor of our favorite president!

I'm tired of it!

Lichess should come with a free vacuum. A nice Kirby, or something.

Mostly I haven't seen much cheating here but there's definitely some. Just recently one played top engine move throughout a correspondence game against me.
