My rating triggers me

The rating digits are used for pairing purposes: The rating differences hints the odds of winning. With a rating difference of 4 to 9, the odds of winning is 51% vs 49%. With a rating difference ranging between 189 to 197, the ratio becomes 3:1. The higher rated has good odds, 75% chance of winning, but if the game is drawn, the high rating will drop and the lower rating will increase.

Chess ratings are not a definition of self-worth. Comparing ratings can provide winning odds, but cannot define our chess potential to increase in rating. Reaching for or maintaining a rating of 1500 is normally possible when chess principles are understood.

Use the lobby custom button or the gear icon to lower that wide default rating range down to ±150. Press Zen mode and see if that helps too. @JulianNations

My blitz rating is 1299 not 1300 but just one away.
My ultrabullet rating is 2 away from 1400.
So should I risk it?

Just go ahead, I didn't play atomic for a few months, my rating went down from 2070 to 1840, I stopped for a moment and I played again until my rating went up to 1970, and I'm still playing. Sometimes we risk things that seem to us to fail but in the end we get the result we wanted from the beginning.

Okay, when you start at the beginning, you will of course lose, that's normal, it's after that the level increases little by little.(However you will have to play often otherwise the level will decrease)

buddy boi it happens
btw 1399 is only 1 apart from 1400 anyways. That's like Buying a fruit for 99 cents or 1 dollar... same thing. there ain't an achievement for 1400 anyways.
Points are just points, one game means nothing, as long as you can get back.
oh btw playing chess for rating is so the way to do stuff. Everyone plays chess for rating. Ah yes, the difference between 1399 and 1400 is the same as between 0 and 1. It's just that important guys.

It blows my mind that people can have a bullet/blitz rating higher than their rapid.
How is that possible?
My rating crashes & burns every minute you take off the clock :(

The funny thing is the ratings distribution has spikes at the even 100s.

Don't get so hung up on the rating.
Rating just helps pair you against equally strong opponents.
There is no meaningful difference between 1299 and 1300

Try to play good chess and keep learning.

My rapid is 2306 should I risk it. I haven't played nor solved or studied chess for more than a month. Almost two months now.

Seriously? I just lost 67 points of rating in 6 games (spread over three weeks) but I'm way more concerned about the repeating pattern of losing in a completely stupid way than about the rating.
