how to break 800?

I have already read a book about checkmates which I have found to be really helpful, and which has taught valuable tactics which I have used to win a lot of games. my problem is that I play a lot of inaccurate and passive moves and I end up getting fucked somehow in the middle game or opening. I've been studying the London opening and I plan on studying 4 knights since it's played a lot on my level.

What helped me was drilling in "look for checks, pins & forks" together with trying to figure out what my opponent is trying to do, I actively look for ways to threaten pieces and taking a good position, and trying to take my time finding moves and not worrying too much about the clock.

Practice agression.

I looked at some of your games. You play like someone who learned openings instead of learning to play chess. At your level, just vaguely knowing you need to develop pieces and put pawns in the center is enough. Your games are decided by one and two move tactical shots, not "white has a slightly better pawn structure on move 8". Instead of studying openings, practice tactics for a while to train yourself to see forks, pins, skewers etc.

Also, you resign too easily. This position sucks for black, but it's far from hopeless, especially in a blitz game. When you're learning, I'd say don't resign until your opponent starts promoting his extra pawns just because. Even then, he might carelessly stalemate you, which is always funny.

To break 800, I recommend being Ultra Passive and Ultra Paranoid!
The 800 ranking range is filled with players that make random Blunders.

They will hang pawns.
They will hang knights.
They will hang bishops.

Free pieces for you to take!
They are just giving them away!
They can’t help it!

They are self-exploding bombs.
The only thing you have to do is get out of there way and let them explode.

Be Ultra Passive!
Be Ultra Solid!

You don’t need your pieces past 3rd or 4th rank.
It is to dangerous out there.

Be like Turtle!
Your in your shell.
Your safe!

Does turtles care if people call them passive?
No!

If you put your hands near there mouth, they will bite them off and retreat back into there shell.
You can do same thing!

When ever you make a move, Make sure your piece is defended!
Be Ultra Paranoid!

Who is defending your knight?
Who is defending your bishop?
Who is defending your pawn?

Be Ultra Paranoid!
Every time you move!

Think who is defending my piece!
If a piece is not defended, you need to move them so they are defended!

This is how you can win the game!
It is long term strategy!

The more compact your position.
The more defended your pieces will be!
The more likelihood you will not hang any piece!

All I want you to do is learn how the pieces on chess board move!
Learn how they attack and most importantly learn how they defend each other!

  • You don’t know openings
  • You don’t know middle games
  • You don’t know end games
BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE YOU HAVE STRATEGY WHICH CAN WIN!

It’s ok if you don’t know stuff because the person your playing against is in the same boat!
The difference is you have been given advice and they most likely haven’t!
This gives you the edge!

Be like a Turtle!
Keep yourself defended in a compact shell position.

  • Wait for your opponent to do a wreck less undefended move!
  • Attack the opponent undefended piece!
  • Retreat back into your shell!

At the start of the game both sides have even amount of pieces + pawns.
If the enemy blunders away all their pieces and you keep all your pieces.

It will be your whole army vs. there lonely King!
They will lose!

All you need is patience, coordination, & knowledge in how the pieces function.
Patience - Give your opponent time to self destruct and blunder you stuff!
Coordination - Develop your pieces & pawns in such a way so they are always defended!
Knowledge - Learn how to pieces move for offensive attacks or defensive retreats!

As for Checkmates, I recommend practicing Rook + King vs. Enemy King checkmates.
Very important!

You might want to consider looking at a basic book on strategy. (I used The Complete Chessplayer by Reinfeld, but that was long long ago.) :)

Do a couple of puzzles a day and you should soon be well above 800.

(I like that this site lets you use the f word, chess.com would not post that).

Try this.
