how can I remove this "group of people" icon just next to the notification symbol?

I mean it's really annoying. Every time when I click a link, the page refreshes, the icon comes, and shows '1' in red color. I suppose that it's for showing how many of my 'friends' are online, but I don't want that.

I'm on Firefox in mobile.

Set it to hidden. The friends box is not even visible on mobile by default, so unless you specifically set it to Hidden, I will show you as a button menu.

I thought those were incoming requests to join your team

Search for "friends box" in the filter box and set it to Hidden

search for Game list options. Or... you can turn everything off from the Preferences (there is a button on the bottom) then enable only what you want.
