First of all, the elephant in the room: Lichess are making more changes than usual. I am handling it as it happens - if I am at home - and sometimes things are getting disrupted. I don't have a better flow than this. So when things change with Lichess, expect a day or two of issues.
That happened with the change to the way icons are being rendered and the subsequent reverting of that attempt and it happened with the friends box FINALLY getting a makeover and being turned into an icon menu akin to notifications.
Onward to the changes from the last forum post about v2.4.247:
- With the Explorer eval tool, the mouseover tooltip on Explorer item was enhanced with some extra information, including Sharpness of the move. On user request, I've added an option to see it as a column in the Explorer.
- I've also added a new highlight option, mainly to show a branching icon in the move list for the positions that branch out (more than 1 possible move in the PGN)
- Video search! Thanks to Chess Insights' API, we can now search for videos referencing the current board position. You can find it in the Share section of games and studies and next to the SCREENSHOT link in Analysis. So far the list of videos is small, but it will grow in time.
- a "Grab highlight" LT theme has been added that renders a translucent disk around a grabbed piece. It's similar to the lightning effect in the Arcade style of chesscom. It doesn't look as cool because my graphical design skills are lacking. Feel free to come up with improvements
- Before you could search for positions in the move list using Ctrl-F, but it only worked in analysis. Now it works in games and puzzles, too. The caveat is that you can only search the SAN of the move, not the FEN and not the pawn structure, like you can in analysis or study.
- the custom practice level is now completely configurable - not limited to depth 15 anymore
- the shape rank (order of arrows and circles) uses now the native chessground label system and it looks a lot better
- the options for the Friends list feature have been simplified to just Default, Menu and Hidden after the Lichess revamp of the friends box
- the Variant and TimeControl tags are being exported in PGNs if they are available for the /copypgn command or the right-click menu option of Copy branch as PGN
- you can now disable individually the key shortcuts that LiChess Tools enables. Just press '?' (Shift+/) where that works (like Study or Analysis) and in the help dialog each shortcut from LiChess Tools has a toggle from where you can turn it off or on.
Some things needed a rewrite and I may have missed some things. As always, let me know if something is awry. Here is what was more or less rewritten:
A lot of bug fixes, but most of them I found myself. Remember, every time you see something that you don't think works as it should, you can always raise a bug on GitHub, in this forum or just contact me directly. I love feedback!
That's it for now. Have fun!
