Was World War 2 necessary? (Like Americans joining the war?)

"that the nazi party name has "socialist" in it does not mean they were actually socialist"

  • They were. They gave jobs to the unemployed. They did that by large public works on highways and on the military, funded by deficit spending, typical socialist practice, encouraged by John Maynard Keynes. The Volkswagen available for each worker from Kraft durch Freude and not for the elite is socialist. The newspaper of Hitler was Der völkische Beobachter, the observer of the people. Hitler started his speeches about the Versailles treaty to fellow construction workers.

Britannica doesn't agree with you

"Britannica doesn't agree with you"

  • Socialists do not like it. That is also why they call them nazis instead of national socialists.

So Britannica is made up of socialists?

@paleshadowofmoon I believe it was. Nazism came as a natural response to a certain toxic reordering of the world and showed us the true depravity of the human soul. Then we forgot it, hid ourselves behind the illusion of civilized society, pretended "it doesn't happen here". And then it happened again. Right here.

World War II was a reset, a tectonic release of pressure and rearrangement of things. Perhaps we need another, I don't know.

What keeps me up at night is the idea that those 80 years of relative peace, quiet and rule of law were a fluke, a Golden Age we didn't know we were living in, and that the nature of humanity makes it just a temporary experiment in the much vaster sea of torment that is our natural state of being.

"if, Mr. Chamberlin had invaded Germany in 1938, the war would have never happened"

  • The British Expeditionary Force was sent to France in September 1939 and had to be evacuated from Dunkirk between 26 May and 4 June 1940.

You really want to argue with me,the bef were sent to defend France in the Belgian weak spot not to attack Germany in Hamburg

Obvious conclusion from your well thought out argument. How could I not see it? I guess the period from 1941 to 1946 was quiet and ruled by law, too....
