• How could the United Kingdom have attacked Hamburg in 1938 or 1939? By at least blowing it up,with the royal navy.
  The United Kingdom and France declared war on Germany on 3 September 1939 after the German invasion of Poland.they did barely anything till it was too late.
  France invaded the Saar on 7 September 1939, but withdrew till 4 October 1939 as Poland had capitulated.That was the phony war.
  The British Expeditionary Force was sent to France in September 1939 to assist the French.
  At that time there was no German attack on France yet, that started in May 1940.
  France held its border with its Maginot Line.

No like what's the issue about someone not bothering to learn hindi? How should that matter to you? They can learn whichever language they want, they can talk in whichever language they want. And since English is a common language we generally speak it to interact with people from other countries. How would you feel if someone from another country insists that you speak their language? Or gets mad at you for not bothering to learn their language?
Yes, the English have colonized countries. Yes, they left their language mark on those countries. Yes, it was a really terrible 300 year period for India. Nobody is justifying their actions. But, Yes, English is a common language. Move on.

The United Kingdom was on the defensive till October 1940 when it could have lost the Battle of Britain.
The United Sates were on the defensive until June 1942 when it could have lost the Battle of Midway.
The Soviet Union was on the defensive until February 1943 when it could have lost the Battle of Stalingrad.
