@paleshadowofmoon I believe it was. Nazism came as a natural response to a certain toxic reordering of the world and showed us the true depravity of the human soul. Then we forgot it, hid ourselves behind the illusion of civilized society, pretended "it doesn't happen here". And then it happened again. Right here.
World War II was a reset, a tectonic release of pressure and rearrangement of things. Perhaps we need another, I don't know.
No we don't need extermination of humanity. That's what WW3 is. I mean how could it not be with nuclear?
I don't understand why you say we perhaps 'need another'.
What keeps me up at night is the idea that those 80 years of relative peace
Depends on where you live.

Here is the Answer of your points one by one
- I am not denying that the axis did not commit atrocities ,but let’s look at the Numbers, and since you mentioned India as well, let us look at us as well
Germany 10=20mil
Japan 10=20mil
Britain 3 mil
France na
350,000 civilian deaths in France (métropole), 1 million in Indochina.
Military losses : 250,000, including 100,000 resistance fighters throughout the occupation period, and 50,000 soldiers killed during the Battle of France in 1940 (which lasted one month).
USSR not a genocide, but millions of kills, due to recklessness, of Stalin
26-27 millions of victims, half were civilians and the other half military personnel. 13 million civilians were killed.
The concept of genocide is when group A seeks to destroy or annihilate group B for reasons of ethnicity or religion. This involves the destruction or annihilation of B by A through repression, torture, and extermination. Given that n.zi propaganda used the theory of racial hierarchy and that the Slavic peoples (Russians, Polish, Ukrainians, Belarusians), as well as Asian peoples (Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, Kazakhs), occupied the bottom of this hierarchy, the n.zi considered them as almost non human and justified all types of torture and atrocities. It should also be noted that the Soviet Union was home to one of the largest Jewish communities in Europe, (second in size after Poland, if I remember well) which was almost annihilated during the Holocaust.

"the bef were sent to defend France in the Belgian weak spot not to attack Germany in Hamburg"
- How could the United Kingdom have attacked Hamburg in 1938 or 1939?
The United Kingdom and France declared war on Germany on 3 September 1939 after the German invasion of Poland.
France invaded the Saar on 7 September 1939, but withdrew till 4 October 1939 as Poland had capitulated.
The British Expeditionary Force was sent to France in September 1939 to assist the French.
At that time there was no German attack on France yet, that started in May 1940.
France held its border with its Maginot Line.

They made a counter offensive after the French retrieved from Saar land, in October 1939, and entered a kilometer or two in French territory, making the beginning of the "Drôle de Guerre" that lasted until may 1940

I don't fear nuclear war as much as the more obvious biological one. Right now a handful of countries have nuclear capabilities and use them as deterrent against threats, cover for all their misdeeds and they attack other countries to make sure they are the only ones having these weapons. But a biological weapon is cheap to research, requires nothing other than well respected protocols and has a much more direct message. Instead of "I will nuke you and win" or "We will nuke each other and maybe I will survive and you won't", the message is "I will kill us both and everybody else with us". Doesn't get more MAD than that.
I don't understand why you say we perhaps 'need another'.
Well, fascism is on the rise, the desperate mindless cry of oppressed masses who would rather burn it all than continue things as they are. The alternative to a global reset is a fossilization of global fascism assisted by technology or at the very best a techno-feudalism that eliminates the power of the people. A few years of war is preferable to that.

Therefore the "relative".

Why are we even discussing this? Also, @TotalNoob69 I am rather terrified by the number of ways humans can destroy each other, and I don't think we need another even deadlier war causing loss of life. It can be tried to be resolved in a more peaceful manner, I believe.

I don't disagree. I just don't find it likely. We are not rational beings.

"I will kill us both and everybody else with us"
- There exist biological weapons that target a particular kind of humans.
Biological weapons were used in World War II, pestilence by the Japanese in China.
Chemical weapons were used a lot in World War I.
