can someone explain this to me how this works in the techinal aspect?
Maybe I am wrong, but does this make my browser choose 1.1.1.1/2/3 as dns resolver?
No, it doesn't do anything to your DNS. It only affects the IP address that scripts on lichess.org use to connect to our websockets server.
Clicking the first link sets a special value in site settings (browser cache) to make lichess scripts connect to an alternative address (cf-socket.lichess.org) for websockets (games).
Clicking the second link removes that special value from cache storage. You can also revert by clearing lichess.org website data from your browser.
@schlawg ok, got it. Is this only a temporary solution or are you guys working on setting this per default?
We'll see. Right now we need more than 5 people to actually try it and provide feedback.
@schlawg wait you guys are still waiting for feedback? I can try it out, but I do not have a problem in generall.
We want to determine if this helps people with problems.
If you don't experience frequent disconnects, you cannot help us here.
Hello! I had been getting this reconnecting messages like every 10 seconds since the past 2-3 months or so. I contacted my network provider several times thinking that it was their fault, but since every other website was working normally, they suggested me that it might be the problem specific to that website (aka lichess.org). I kinda just quit playing chess altogether since then because losing completely winning positions on time due to network problems is frustrating. So rather than raging over the things I couldn't control, I stopped playing. Now that I happen to re-login on my account, I stumbled upon this thread and since many other people seem to have faced similar issues, I feel hopeful that a solution will arise, and it might very well have arrived already. As people are saying that the first link seems to resolve their issues, I am going to try it and provide feedback in some days. I'll see how it goes and let you all know. Until then, bye!
I ran the link on my old android tablet. It greatly improved the performance of lichess TV. Before in bullet games the moves would come in batches, with pauses in between. Now appears like a natural game.
