How to turn off the victory flags that now appear on board post game. This should be a setting!

It seems the thread is shadow banned. I can't find it in the list of recent threads on the forum, even though it should be there based on my previous posts.

It happens to every post over 50 replies, this thread is not being targeted specifically

The target audience for the new initiative has already given it their approval https://lichess.org/forum/lichess-feedback/the-mark-in-the-top-right-corner-of-the-king-is-really-nice It's encouraging that most of the people who commented on this thread are against this initiative.

What do you mean by ' the target audience' here exactly? People are allowed to like different things, your comment is very condescending.

IDK if I'd use condescending here. But there does appear to be a small favorable reaction. I've posted about 23 hours ago now a list of some other forum links where it seems to me the same topic is being discussed in addition to the one above. I'm not in particular caring much for positive comments about this topic. Those are meaningless. Lichess really needs to step up and do the right thing here by putting an off switch in place for such wasteful decorate mods. Lichess seems unaware that this will tarnish it's already not so great reputation.
So what do we want?
Lichess to do the right thing and put the off switch in place soon.
One thing is true for those who profess to like this disregard of end users. If there's an off switch they can still leave theirs on if they want. It's not like they'll be detrimentally affected by the proposed change from this topic.
Lichess are you awake or are you a zomibe?

There is no condescending attitude whatsoever. If you look at the distribution of ratings, approximately 80% of players will be below 1800. In other words, their level is no higher than Category 2 (in the sense of Categories 4, 3, 2, 1, Master Candidate, and so on). In other words, this 80% should probably be considered Lichess's target audience at this stage. And the introduction of whistles and bells like this one most likely confirms that. Most of them are beginners, and they'll probably like this. This is just a guess, but to know for sure, the developers need to say who their target audience is. Personally, I'm in favor of taking into account the interests of players at all levels: from beginners to grandmasters.
Now think about it: what attracts newcomers to chesscom? Maybe Lichess is doing everything right by adopting the best strategies for attracting and retaining users from its competitor? I don’t know. But what’s stopping them from adding a toggle for those who don’t like it? That way, both those who want gamification (maybe they should add a reward for logging in daily?) and those who, on the contrary, prefer a simple and minimalist interface would be satisfied.
Now think about this: what if Lichess has misidentified its target audience and is actually doing itself a disservice?
I hope I was able to make it clear that only developers themselves can say for certain who their target audience is. I explained who I think they are focusing on. And it's true, people like different things, so in this thread we want a toggle to switch it off.

Target audience isn't something I'd considered but I'm not sure it's topical here.

The problem: Lichess made a mod and screwed it up.
Not thinking things through well? Yeah. Or not caring enough to do the job right despite knowing there should be an off switch.

I find it a rather large problem that lichess made this mod and either did not think it through well before doing it or didn't care.

lichess slop.

I don't think you understood anything I said in my message. It seems I wrote it for nothing.
Are you suggesting reverse discrimination? Look at these arrogant snobs who don't want our kids' trinkets. Let them be like everyone else or leave the site.

For @BaronVonChickenpants.

The issue here is the problem with the change not being well thought out & with their not caring about convenience for end users and doing their work thoroughly. As a developer I can't tell you how many times I've seen that nor how much I hate it.-------- Accusations of rating elitism are off topic. -------- AquilaReale64 analyzed the situation and wrote about their thoughts on the matter; and this seams reasonable to me.

Either way the topic is still the org and it's developers didn't do their job right.

If you're going to be off topic perhaps you could just go post under a different topic instead of here? What you write about there might actually match what's being discussed there.

So what looks like a final comment here.
Condemnation for the host site for their lack of vision and not caring about what would work well. Giving people options is always best. You failed.
Condemnation for ignoring multiple threads on this topic, for ignoring your users preferences.
Condemnation for acting increasingly corporate; where will this take you in the future? I'm not thinking anyplace good will be the destination.
Donations? Yes this might be possible in the future. If you're still doing things like this that are contrary to the wishes of the end users... no. If I had been making donations, I would be stopping that now, because of this issue.
It's not too much to ask for. Keep doing stupid corporate things and see where that takes you.
